Gears of War: E-Day launched on October 1, 2026 for PC and Xbox Series X/S, and Horde Siege is already where most players are spending their time after the campaign. The mode gives you four distinct classes, each with its own tactical gear, weapon slots, and armor mods. Picking the wrong setup for your class is the fastest way to feel useless in a squad. Here's the short answer: every class has a clear early-game loadout that works, and this guide breaks each one down with specific weapons, mods, and the reasoning behind every choice.
There is no single best class. All four fill different squad roles, and a balanced team will always outperform four players running the same setup. That said, each class has a dominant early-game build that lets you contribute immediately without grinding for high-level unlocks.
Every build in Horde Siege follows the same structure: a Tactical Gear piece with at least one Armor Mod, a primary weapon, a secondary weapon, a sidearm, and an equipment slot. Getting the right combination of these elements is what separates a functional build from a dead weight one.
The Assault class is built around punishing stunned enemies. The core of this build is the Sonic Disruptor tactical gear paired with the Retention Battery armor mod. Stunned enemies take increased damage, and the Sonic Disruptor creates those stun windows reliably.
For the sidearm, run the Snub with four specific mods: Concussion Ammo, Forged Barrel, Aim Stabilizer, and Holo Sight. Concussion Ammo builds stun on enemies with every Perfect Reload, which feeds directly into the Sonic Disruptor's damage bonus. The Forged Barrel increases accuracy and damage range, while the Aim Stabilizer and Holo Sight tighten up your shots from cover. Pair this with a Concussion Grenade in the equipment slot to apply stun at range.
The build also generates healing on kills, which means staying aggressive in cover pays off more than playing passively at the back.
The Breacher thrives at close to mid-range and rewards players who nail Perfect Reloads consistently. The Adrenaline Injector tactical gear with the Stability Compound armor mod keeps you mobile and durable during aggressive pushes.
The Snub sidearm here runs Full Metal Jacket, Forged Barrel, Aim Stabilizer, and Holo Sight. Full Metal Jacket converts Perfect Reloads into Perfect Ammo with increased damage, which is the entire engine of this build. Every reload you nail translates directly into higher damage output. Slot an Incendiary Grenade in the equipment slot to control chokepoints and soften up clustered enemies before you push in.
The Marksman is a high-damage, low-survivability class. The job is to stay out of direct fire, mark targets, and delete priority enemies before they reach the squad. The Pulse Drone tactical gear with the Retention Battery armor mod is the foundation. The Pulse Drone highlights enemies in a wide radius, letting you track targets even through cover.
For weapons, run the Longshot as your primary with Full Metal Jacket, Precision Long Barrel, Marksman Scope, and Long Range Stabilizer. The Precision Long Barrel increases critical damage and lets shots pass through multiple targets. The Marksman Scope gives 3x single magnification zoom, and the Long Range Stabilizer reduces aimed recoil for cleaner follow-up shots.
The Gnasher covers close range with Full Metal Jacket, Slick Breech, Full Auto, and Skeleton Frame. The Gnasher feels sluggish without mods, and these four fix that: faster reload, full-auto fire, and improved movement while aiming. Keep the Snub loaded with Concussion Ammo, Forged Barrel, Aim Stabilizer, and Holo Sight as an emergency backup that builds stun.
Slot a Smoke Grenade in the equipment slot. Here's why that matters: the Pulse Drone highlights enemies through the smoke, so you can fire on marked targets while they cannot see you at all.
For armor mods, Muscle Memory (unlocked at level 3) widens the active reload window, which is a big deal on the Longshot's slow, single-shot reload cycle. Pair it with Mag Triage (level 5) and every successful Perfect Reload heals you.

Marksman Longshot mod setup
The Medic's value to a squad is obvious, but the class can also hold its own in combat. The Stim Vaporizer tactical gear with Vitality Emitter and Retention Battery armor mods gives you an emergency healing field that restores health and revives downed squad members in range.
For weapons, the Lancer Mk1 handles mid-range reliably as a primary, while the Hammer Burst covers closer engagements as a secondary. The Snub sidearm and a Smoke Grenade round out the loadout. The Smoke Grenade gives you breathing room to deploy the Stim Vaporizer without taking fire while you revive teammates.
This build works across close and mid-range without requiring you to specialize heavily, which makes it forgiving for players still learning the class.
| Class | Tactical Gear | Key Armor Mod | Primary Role | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Assault | Sonic Disruptor | Retention Battery | Stun and cover damage | Aggressive cover fighters |
| Breacher | Adrenaline Injector | Stability Compound | Close-mid range pressure | Players who nail Perfect Reloads |
| Marksman | Pulse Drone | Retention Battery | Long-range priority targets | Backline snipers |
| Medic | Stim Vaporizer | Vitality Emitter | Squad sustain and revives | Support-oriented players |
Mod slots expand as you progress through your class levels. Early on you will have fewer slots to work with, so prioritize the mods that have the highest individual impact first. For the Marksman, that means slotting Full Metal Jacket before worrying about the stock or barrel mods. For the Assault, Concussion Ammo on the Snub is the first pick.
