Chasing 1,000 Gamerscore in Gears of War: E-Day is no small ask. The Coalition's Xbox Series X|S and PC exclusive packs 53 achievements spread across Campaign, Versus, and the new Horde Siege mode, and several of them will demand hundreds of hours before you see that final unlock ping. This guide breaks down every single achievement, what it takes to earn it, and where to focus your time first.

How many achievements does Gears of War: E-Day have?

The game ships with exactly 53 achievements worth a combined 1,000 Gamerscore. One of those 53, the platinum-style completion achievement titled "The Lucky Ones Died on E-Day", awards 0 Gamerscore on its own. It exists purely as a badge for players who unlock every other achievement in the list. The remaining 52 achievements split their Gamerscore across 15-point and 25-point tiers, with two high-value outliers at 75 and 85 points respectively.

tip
"The Lucky Ones Died on E-Day" is a direct nod to Xbox's earlier plans to release E-Day on PlayStation 5, where it would have awarded a Platinum Trophy. That plan changed, but the achievement structure stayed.

For completionists, the path to 1,000G runs through every major mode. You cannot skip Campaign, Versus, or Horde Siege and still hit the cap.

What are the hardest achievements to unlock?

Horde Siege extraction complete

Horde Siege extraction complete

Dead Serious (85G)

This is the mountain. Dead Serious demands you complete the Campaign on Insane difficulty with 100% completion, rack up 25,000 kills in Versus, hit maximum Player Level, and max out all four Horde Siege classes. Any one of those conditions would qualify as a grind on its own. All four together make this the kind of achievement that separates casual players from the genuinely obsessed. Budget serious time here, especially for the Versus kill count.

For Whom The Bell Tolls (75G)

The second-highest individual achievement requires Insane difficulty Campaign completion alongside every side mission and every hidden item. This pairs directly with Remember Kalona (complete Campaign on any difficulty) and Memories From E-Day (find all Collectibles), so running a thorough Insane playthrough kills multiple achievements at once.

tip
Play through Campaign on a lower difficulty first to map out collectible and Hard Case locations. Then run your Insane playthrough with a checklist ready. Backtracking on Insane is painful.

HEY NOW, YOU'RE AN ALL STAR (25G)

25,000 Versus kills sounds absurd, and it is. This will be the last achievement most players unlock. The good news: every kill counts regardless of mode or outcome, so just keep playing Versus consistently and it accumulates over time.

Siege Specialist (25G)

Maxing out all four classes (Assault, Breacher, Marksman, and Medic) in Horde Siege means splitting your time across playstyles you might not naturally gravitate toward. Coordinate with your squad to cover different roles efficiently rather than grinding each class solo.

Campaign achievements: what you need to know

The Campaign achievements split into two categories: story-based unlocks that come naturally from progressing through Acts 1 to 5, and completionist unlocks that require deliberate effort.

The story achievements (Emergence Begins through For My Boys) will unlock automatically across the five acts without any extra work. You're My Brother requires completing the entire Campaign in co-op, so if you have a friend ready, run the whole thing together from the start.

For collectibles and secrets, three achievements cover the same territory from different angles:

  • Relax. I'm the Map requires finding all Hard Cases
  • Memories From E-Day requires finding all Collectibles
  • Quartermaster requires unlocking all Supply Cache items

Running a dedicated collectible sweep after your first playthrough is the cleanest approach. The Side Piece achievement for completing all Secondary Objectives stacks naturally with this sweep.

warning
Do not skip secondary objectives on your first run expecting to mop them up later. Some may be tied to specific moments in an act that you cannot revisit without replaying from a checkpoint.

Horde Siege achievements: the long grind

Horde Siege carries the heaviest achievement load outside of Versus. Between revive counts, Energy spending, Invasion Events, and class progression, expect to spend the most cumulative hours here.

A few specific ones worth planning around:

Down, but Not Dead requires 250 revives using the Stim Vaporizer specifically, so commit to the Medic class early and build that count consistently. Spotted and Slotted needs 1,000 enemy pulses with the Pulse Drone, which sounds large but accumulates naturally if you make the Pulse Drone a habit in every session.

Never Fight Alone is the trickiest Horde Siege achievement because it requires extracting with every squadmate alive on Allfather difficulty. That demands coordination, communication, and a squad that knows the mode well. Attempting this with randoms is a gamble.

Stacks, On Stacks, On Stacks (spend 150,000 Energy at the Supply Cache) and This Is My Rifle (unlock all Weapon Mods) both track naturally as you play, but spending Energy efficiently rather than hoarding it will speed up the former.

Versus achievements: patience required

Versus has a smaller achievement count but some of the most time-consuming unlock conditions in the game. Beyond the 25,000 kill milestone, It Only Game, Why You Heff To Be Mad? requires winning a full Conquest match without the opposing team scoring a single point, which is more about opponent quality than your own skill. Days Since Last Accident: 0 is tied to a specific environmental interaction on the Battleship map, so keep that in mind when the map comes up.

Somebody Set Us Up the Bomb (plant the bomb in Demolition and let it detonate without being defused) requires both good bomb placement and teammates willing to defend it properly.

What's the fastest path to 1,000G?

After testing the full achievement list, the most efficient route looks like this:

  1. Complete Boot Camp for the FNG achievement immediately.
  2. Run a full Campaign playthrough on Normal or Experienced while collecting everything and finishing all secondary objectives. This clears the majority of Campaign achievements in one run.
  3. Start Horde Siege with the Medic class to stack revive-based achievements early.
  4. Play Versus consistently in the background to chip away at the 25,000 kill count.
  5. Return to Campaign on Insane for For Whom The Bell Tolls and Today We Are Canceling the Apocalypse, using your collectible knowledge from the first run.
  6. Finish Horde Siege class progression and max out all four classes for Siege Specialist.
  7. Complete the Re-Up progression for Field Service and Get Your Wings.
  8. Dead Serious will be the last thing you unlock, assuming the Versus kill count is your longest running task.

For everything else surrounding the game, the Gears of War: E-Day strategy guides cover modes, mechanics, and launch details in depth. If you are still figuring out how to access the game, the beta access and schedule guide has exact dates and content details. There are also exclusive beta rewards worth grabbing before launch if you have not already. E-Day sits among the more demanding shooter games on the achievement front, but the variety across modes keeps the grind from feeling repetitive.
