The Don't Speak quest is one of those tasks in Gray Zone Warfare that catches players off guard. No firefight objectives, no kill counts. Just two locations, two pieces of evidence, and a story that gets darker the closer you look. Assigned by the Artisan vendor and introduced with the Spearhead 0.4 update, this quest sends you to the eastern edge of Lamang near the Winchester Combat Outpost (tier 3). Here's exactly how to finish it without wasting a trip.
What is the Don't Speak quest in Gray Zone Warfare?
Artisan tasks you with finding out what happened to a group of contacts who stopped sending updates. The quest has two investigation objectives:
- Investigate what happened to the criminals near the lake at Sabai Lake Restaurant
- Search the Villa Vongphet southwest of the lake to uncover the fate of the rest
Neither objective requires you to eliminate specific enemies, though patrols in the area can still get you killed if you move carelessly.
info
The Spearhead 0.4 update reset all player progress, so even veterans need to complete this quest from scratch. The quest structure itself changed slightly from earlier versions, so older guides may point you to the wrong spots.
How to complete Don't Speak
Step 1: Get to Sabai Lake Restaurant
The Sabai Lake Restaurant sits near a lake south of Pha Lang, accessible from a main road. Use the nearest landing zone and approach from a route that keeps you off open ground. Enemies do patrol this area, so moving slowly costs you nothing.
Once inside the restaurant, look for a small green seat beside a white table flanked by two white chairs. On that seat is a note titled "Death Sentence." Interact with it to read the message:
"Mercenary whores! This is what happens to all colalborators who betray their homeland!"
Interacting with the note updates your objective and points you toward the second location.
Step 2: Move to Villa Vongphet
Villa Vongphet is located southwest of Sabai Lake Restaurant. The compound has two structures. You need the smaller house toward the northeast of the compound, not the larger building.
Expect potential resistance in and around the villa. Clear the immediate threat or bypass it depending on your loadout, but do not rush the search. Missing the notebook means the objective will not update, and you will have to sweep the room again.
warning
Do not enter the larger house first. The notebook you need is in the smaller northeastern structure. Several players have wasted time searching the wrong building.

Step 3: Find the Torturer's Notebook
Inside the smaller house at Villa Vongphet, you will find a notebook titled "Torturer's Notebook." Interact with it and read the full transcript. Reading it automatically completes the Don't Speak quest. No extraction required for the objective itself, but you still need to make it out alive to keep your rewards.
info
After grabbing the notebook, call your extraction immediately. There is no reason to linger. The quest is done and any additional fighting just puts your rewards at risk.
What rewards do you get from Don't Speak?
Completing the quest for Artisan pays out the following, as confirmed for the Spearhead 0.4 update:
The SR 7.62x54R ammo is a solid bonus for anyone running bolt-action or semi-auto rifles chambered in that caliber. The 175 reputation with Artisan also pushes you closer to unlocking higher-tier vendor items, making this quest worth doing early.
info
MADFINGER Games may adjust these rewards in future patches. The values above reflect the Spearhead 0.4 release. Check the official patch notes if something looks different in your session.
Tips for running Don't Speak efficiently
What gear should you bring?
This is not a combat-heavy quest, but that does not mean you should drop in light. A medium loadout works well: enough protection to survive a patrol contact, light enough to move fast between the two POIs. Heavy armor slows your navigation between Sabai Lake Restaurant and Villa Vongphet without offering much benefit on a quest where you are not meant to fight your way through.
How do you avoid failing the quest?
The two most common mistakes players make:
- Missing the note at Sabai Lake Restaurant because they scan the wrong furniture. The green seat next to the white table is easy to overlook if you head straight for the back rooms.
- Entering the wrong building at Villa Vongphet. The larger structure looks more like a target, but the notebook is in the smaller house to the northeast.
If your objective marker is not updating, you have almost certainly missed one of these two interactions.
Route planning
Both POIs are close enough that you can run them in a single insertion without needing to re-deploy. Land near Pha Lang, hit Sabai Lake Restaurant first, then move southwest to Villa Vongphet. The whole run takes under 15 minutes if the area is quiet.
