The Entrenched Division warbond takes Helldivers 2 somewhere it has never gone before: the mud-soaked, chemical-laced nightmare of WWI trench warfare, transplanted into a sci-fi co-op shooter. With a heavy flamethrower backpack, a gas-spewing automated mortar, a shovel you can actually dig trenches with, and an SMG that doubles as a mini-incinerator, this is one of the most thematically tight warbonds Arrowhead has released. Whether the contents justify the standard 1,000 Super Credits price tag is a different question, and that is exactly what this guide answers.

What is the Entrenched Division warbond?

Released on March 17, 2026, the Entrenched Division premium warbond is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Like every premium warbond before it, the cost is a flat 1,000 Super Credits. The content spans three pages and covers two armor sets, two primary/secondary weapons, a melee secondary, one throwable, two stratagems, and a full suite of cosmetics.

The WWI theme is not just aesthetic dressing. Every item in the warbond connects to trench warfare logic: gas attacks, fire-based area denial, explosive grenades bundled for anti-armor work, and entrenching tools for field fortification. Arrowhead has built a coherent identity here in a way that not every warbond manages.

info
The Entrenched Division warbond is a premium purchase and cannot be unlocked through free Super Credits alone at launch. Budget accordingly before the March 17 drop.

New armor sets: which passive is worth your slot?

CPG-48 Sapper (medium armor, Concussive Padding: Grenadier)

The Grenadier variant of the new Concussive Padding passive combines explosive damage resistance with extra throwable storage capacity. In practical terms, that is the Fortified and Engineering Kit passives fused into a single armor slot. Whether the combined values match what those individual passives offer at full strength is something only post-launch testing will confirm, but the concept is strong for anyone building around grenades and explosive throwables.

Pair the Sapper with the G-48 Giga Grenade and you have a loadout that stores more of the most powerful throwable in the warbond while also surviving the blast radius if your aim is slightly off.

CPH-26 Commandant (light armor, Concussive Padding: Hazmat)

The Hazmat variant is arguably the more interesting of the two. It covers both explosive and gas damage resistance, then adds reduced sidearm recoil on top. Gas resistance has existed since the Chemical Agents warbond via the Advanced Filtration passive, so Commandant is a direct upgrade for anyone already running gas-heavy loadouts, folding in blast protection as a bonus.

The sidearm recoil reduction pairs directly with the P-69 Veto pistol, suggesting Arrowhead's intended archetype here is a fast-moving squad lead who stays close to the A/GM-17 Gas Mortar Sentry without taking friendly gas damage.

info
If you plan to run the Gas Mortar Sentry, the CPH-26 Commandant is the obvious armor pick. The gas resistance passive makes proximity to your own sentry's clouds far less punishing.

New weapons breakdown

What does the SMG/FLAM-34 Stoker bring to the meta?

The Stoker is the second primary weapon in Helldivers 2 history to ship with a dedicated underbarrel attachment as a base feature, following the AR/GL-21 One-Two from the Python Commandos warbond. This time the attachment is a built-in incinerator rather than a grenade launcher, giving the Stoker two distinct fire modes: ballistic SMG fire and a burst of direct flame.

On the ballistic side, the frame almost certainly carries light armor penetration given its SMG classification. The flame element has proven effective across all three enemy factions in Helldivers 2. The real question is how Arrowhead has handled the ammo economy across both modes. If the incinerator draws from a shared pool, players will need to manage switching carefully. If the two modes use separate resources, the Stoker could become a genuinely flexible primary.

For context, the SMG-37 Defender (which the Stoker visually resembles on the ballistic side) carries 110 damage, a 45-round magazine, and 520 rounds per minute. The Stoker's final stats are not locked down pre-launch, but that baseline gives a rough sense of what to expect from the SMG component.

P-69 Veto: a Senator rival or a sideshow?

The P-69 Veto uses jet-assisted rounds, which suggests stagger behavior similar to the JAR-5 Dominator, keeping enemies at distance rather than punching through their armor. Its Luger-inspired design fits the WWI theme, and the Hazmat passive's sidearm recoil reduction makes the Commandant armor the natural partner.

The community is split on whether this lands closer to a high-capacity light-penetration sidearm or a low-capacity medium-to-heavy penetration option. If it ends up in the latter category, it could genuinely challenge the P-4 Senator for the secondary weapon slot on builds that want more precise stopping power.

CQC-73 Entrenchment Tool: novelty or necessity?

The Entrenchment Tool has existed in the world of Helldivers 2 for roughly a year, appearing as environmental scenery and used to dig up buried samples. What changes with the Entrenched Division warbond is that it now occupies the secondary weapon slot, meaning you can bring it into any mission from the moment your hellpod lands.

Functionally, it works as both a melee weapon and a terrain-deformation tool. Aiming at the ground triggers a proper dig animation that creates depressions around the player. This is not just cosmetic: the terrain deformation system in Helldivers 2 is real, and a dug position provides genuine cover geometry. The base damage figure cited in pre-launch materials is 110, which puts it in line with other utility secondaries.

The practical value depends entirely on playstyle. Players who favor mobile, aggressive tactics will likely never equip it. For squads that want to set up defensive positions around objectives, it is one of the most unique tools the game has offered.

warning
The Entrenchment Tool occupies your secondary weapon slot entirely. If you bring it, you lose access to a pistol or support sidearm. Plan your loadout accordingly before dropping in.

Stratagems: are they meta-worthy?

A/GM-17 Gas Mortar Sentry: the new crowd control king?

The A/GM-17 Gas Mortar Sentry joins the standard Mortar Sentry and the EMS Mortar Sentry as the third automated mortar variant in the game. The key difference is its payload: gas shells that create lingering crowd-control clouds rather than direct explosive damage or EMS suppression.

Gas is currently one of the most effective crowd-control tools at higher difficulty levels in Helldivers 2. Automating gas delivery on a mortar arc means passive zone denial that requires no player attention once deployed. For squads running high-difficulty missions where holding a position matters, this thing has genuine meta potential.

The concern is accuracy. Mortar sentries are famously indiscriminate, and a gas cloud drifting onto your squad is a qualitatively different problem than a stray EMS round. The CPH-26 Commandant armor exists precisely to mitigate this, but the sentry will still require smart positioning away from the squad's operating zone.

B/FLAM-80 Cremator: heavy flamethrower with real tradeoffs

The B/FLAM-80 Cremator is a heavy support flamethrower fed by a dedicated backpack fuel tank, which means continuous flame output without reloading at the cost of your backpack slot and a significant reduction in mobility. This puts it in the same category as the M-1000 Maxigun from Python Commandos and the GL-28 Belt-Fed Grenade Launcher from Siege Breakers: powerful backpack-fed weapons that demand a real commitment.

Pre-launch footage has attracted some skepticism, with enemies appearing to walk through flames without significant reaction. Arrowhead has a track record of adjusting warbond weapons before and after launch, so final performance may differ. The core concept (a sustained, high-output flamethrower that does not need to reload) is strong if the flame mechanics carry the right damage and slow properties.

info
The Cremator locks out your backpack slot entirely. If you run it, you cannot bring a supply pack, jump pack, or any other backpack stratagem simultaneously. Build your team composition around this constraint.

G-48 Giga Grenade: what makes it different from Dynamite?

The G-48 Giga Grenade draws clear inspiration from the German Gebalte Ladung, a WWI anti-tank improvised weapon made by bundling stick grenades together. In the reveal trailer, it destroys an autonomous tank in a single throw, which puts it firmly in the anti-armor throwable category.

The honest question is how Arrowhead has differentiated it from the existing Dynamite throwable. Both occupy the "throw and immediately sprint away" design space. For the Giga Grenade to earn its slot, it needs either a meaningfully larger blast radius, heavier armor penetration, or a distinct detonation behavior. Given the trailer demonstration against a tank, heavy armor damage appears to be the intended differentiator.

Cosmetics and the Diplomatic Handshake emote

The cosmetic suite leans into the battle-worn, century-old aesthetic: scratched vehicle panels, worn fabric, campaign medals from forgotten wars. The Heritage Olive color scheme runs across the hellpod, shuttle, vehicle, and exosuit skins for a unified look.

The standout cosmetic is the Diplomatic Handshake co-emote, which references the Christmas Truce of 1914, when soldiers from opposing sides briefly stopped fighting to exchange greetings and play football in no man's land. It is the most talked-about item in the reveal and the kind of historically grounded detail that makes the Entrenched Division theme feel genuinely considered rather than surface-level.

Is the Entrenched Division warbond worth 1,000 Super Credits?

Here is the honest breakdown. The A/GM-17 Gas Mortar Sentry alone has strong meta potential and could justify the purchase for players at higher difficulties. The B/FLAM-80 Cremator fills a gap in the heavy weapon roster that the FLAM-40 never quite covered. The CQC-73 Entrenchment Tool is genuinely unique in the game's history.

The SMG/FLAM-34 Stoker is the biggest question mark. Hybrid weapons in Helldivers 2 live or die by their ammo economy, and that detail is not locked down pre-launch. The P-69 Veto depends entirely on its armor penetration tier.

For players who already run gas or fire builds, the warbond is an easy recommendation. For players who prefer ballistic or explosive-focused loadouts, the G-48 Giga Grenade and CPG-48 Sapper armor are the most relevant picks, and whether those two items alone justify 1,000 Super Credits is a personal call.
