MOTORSLICE

Motorslice drops you straight into a brutalist megastructure with a chainsaw and a malfunctioning drone companion named Orbie, and Chapter 1: City is where the game stops holding your hand. The prologue taught you wall runs and parries. Now you need to put all of that together across a multi-checkpoint urban sprawl packed with Orb Drones, Digger enemies, blade traps, and one genuinely memorable boss fight at the end. This guide covers every checkpoint, every collectible, and exactly how to finish the Dump Truck without getting crushed.

What carries over from Chapter 0 into Chapter 1?

By the time Chapter 1 begins, you should have the following mechanics down from the prologue:

  • Wall running between parallel surfaces to maintain momentum
  • Wall climbing using cracks in surfaces
  • Parrying by timing an attack when an enemy or object glows orange
  • Rolling to dodge incoming hits during combat
  • Motorslicing, the chainsaw-anchored traversal move introduced at the end of Chapter 0

If any of those feel shaky, Chapter 1 will test every single one. The flashlight also returns here, and you will need it in several dark interiors.

Checkpoint 1: Into the Megastructure

From the bridge at the end of Chapter 0, head through the orange door at the far end. You can actually use a motorslice along the golden strip on the bridge's side to speed this section up.

Once inside, activate your flashlight and navigate three pits with spinning blades beneath them. After the third pit, vertical spinning grinder pillars block the path. Move carefully through the gaps, then wall run and jump through the next grinder hallway. Interact with the valve at the end to open the gate.

Hop across the gap using the orange pipes. On the far side, a Digger bursts out of a red door. Defeat it, then circle around to the rear of that building for your first Orb Drone. Enter through the hole in the wall and take the lower inside path (not the stairs) to find a second Orb Drone at the end. Climb the stairs afterward and exit through the orange door at the top.

Checkpoint 2: City Exploration and Orb Drone Sweep

This is the most open section of Chapter 1, and it has the highest concentration of Orb Drones. Right as you exit, there is a Slack Off Scene called "Easy Job" directly ahead. These optional interactions are worth triggering for the character moments.

Use the streetlamps and hanging wall to cross the gap, then take out the two Diggers patrolling the area. Once the area is clear, start your orb sweep:

  • Right side of the entry area: one Orb Drone visible from where you came in
  • Far left path off the edge: jump to the wall below the drone, run up to grab it, then jump back
  • Indent in the left wall: climb a concrete structure, jump to the awning on the right, wall run to the opposite awning, climb up
  • Past the orange pillar at the back fence: one Orb Drone; ignore the pillar and continue past it
  • Wall run loop around the corner: run and jump in a loop around the corner to grab one more Orb Drone mid-air
  • Top of the orange pillar: climb up and check the small area behind the building at the top for another drone

After clearing those, climb to the next ledge where two Diggers are waiting. This is where the game introduces the charged attack: hold the attack button and release for extra damage. Killing an enemy this way for the first time unlocks the Chainsaw Girl Achievement/Trophy.

Check the left side of this ledge for another Orb Drone. You need to wall run up the wall behind it and jump back to collect it. Climb the orange pillars to the next level, defeat two more Diggers, and note the debris on the ground (tires and barrels). Hitting an enemy with one of these physics objects unlocks the Recycle Achievement/Trophy on first contact.

Motorslice the orange wall section to proceed. Climb the crack in the wall ahead and look up to spot an Orb Drone above. Use the secondary crack to reach it. Navigate the room using cracks and orange pipes, keeping your flashlight on, then complete the parallel wall run sequence at the end. Defeat the Digger across the next gap, then four more on the subsequent platform. Motorslice the gap, cross the pipes, drop down the orange pillar, and enter the door.

Checkpoint 3: Blade Traps and the Pushable Blocks

P slides down a slope immediately on entry. Jump to the ledge opposite at the bottom and continue to the spinning blade platforms.

The sequence works like this:

  1. Hold the slide button to crouch under the first blade
  2. Two sets of platforms extend from the left wall and retract. Jump to each when it extends, then off to the right before it vanishes
  3. Two platforms with blades moving in opposite directions. Jump back and forth to avoid them
  4. Wall jump from the left wall to a ledge above, then to a second ledge that collapses, sending you sliding down. Jump over the chain link fence to land below

In the lower area, two concrete blocks can be moved by hitting them with the chainsaw. Push one to the rear wall and use it to wall jump up to the ledge above. Check the pillars on the right for an Orb Drone. Motorslice the orange wall and continue through the door at the top of the stairs.

Checkpoint 4: Rooftops, Valves, and a Hidden Orb

Step out onto the rooftop and look directly above the door you just came through. There is an Orb Drone right there. Move to the edge and look down at the pipe below for a second one.

Wall run to the next rooftop, hop the fence, and climb the left wall to reach the Slack Off Scene: Beton Tech. Duck under the metal vent to the right to find another Orb Drone.

Motorslice up the wall from the slack off area. Drop down to the ledge below with a Digger, wall run the next gap, and enter the small doorway. Defeat another Digger inside.

On the way out, find the small room on the left with a valve. Interacting with it moves a section of fencing and reveals a crack in the wall. Wall run to the crack and climb down to a ledge below for an Orb Drone. Climb back up and use the nearby pillars to reach a fenced area with a crack leading to a rooftop. Dispatch the two Diggers there.

Before motorslicing the wall ahead, drop down to the left ledge for another Orb Drone. Once you motorslice up to the next rooftop, go through the covered walkway on the right. Drop down on the left at the far end and defeat the Digger.

Here you will find a concrete block. Move it to the opening beside the large concrete pipe on the other side of the area. There is a floating Orb Drone here. Hit the block into it with the chainsaw to collect it. Head back to the stairs, go down, beat two more Diggers, and exit through the orange door.

Checkpoint 5: Swing Bars, Spike Traps, and the Final Push

Follow the tunnel to the end with wall running as needed. At the top of the stairs, look left for an Orb Drone and wall jump to grab it. Look back above the tunnel entrance for a second one.

Continue along a series of motorslice walls. At the end, you reach a gap with numerous swing bars. There is an Orb Drone on the left side as you enter the room. Grab it before crossing, then use the bars to reach the far side.

In the next hallway, cross the bridge carefully. It periodically vanishes to reveal a spinning blade trap beneath, so time your crossing. Wall run the next set of walls at the end.

In the larger room, the left side has a grey wall for Slack Off Scene: Holes. Directly opposite, look out the opening to spot a small ledge below with an Orb Drone. Jump down, grab it, and climb back up using the crack in the wall.

At the far end of the room, spike traps alternate to reveal wall sections. Wall run back and forth across these to reach the exit door. Cross the gap, head up the stairs, and drop into the larger area below to trigger the boss.

How do you beat the Dump Truck boss in Chapter 1?

The Dump Truck is Chapter 1's colossal boss and the first of 8 in the game. The goal is to climb it and motorslice all of its yellow surfaces. The fight ends once every target has been sliced.

Here is what the boss does and how to handle it:

Step-by-step boss sequence (based on Neoseeker's walkthrough and Into Indie Games' guide):

  1. Get beneath the boss and find the pillars underneath. Climb them and follow the path to a swing bar outside
  2. Jump to the first motorslice segment from the swing bar and slice it to the end
  3. Slide down the nearby ramp and use the next motorslice segment at the bottom to reach the area above
  4. Around the corner, there are two more motorslice areas. Slice both. The second maneuvers you to the rear of the truck
  5. Use the motorslice wall at the rear to reach the top of the truck
  6. The boss immediately starts tilting its tray. Sprint to the circular structure near the front and perform a horizontal motorslice. Do one or two full laps to finish the fight

After the boss falls, the locked path opens. Use the motorslice wall to reach the top of the cylindrical structure for Slack Off Scene: Tomb, then cross the bridge toward the next tall pillar. That triggers the Chapter 1 completion and the City Achievement/Trophy (Bronze on PlayStation).

Orb Drone quick reference for Chapter 1

Collecting Orbs in Chapter 1 requires deploying them at orange triangle markers scattered through the level. You collect them by grabbing the floating drones, then stand in the triangle to deploy. The VR scan ability lets you spot both enemies and Orb Drone locations, so use it before exploring new areas.

Is Motorslice worth playing through?

Based on the launch build (May 2026), Motorslice holds a 91% Very Positive rating on Steam from 584 reviews and a 73/100 on OpenCritic from 13 critics. The game draws direct comparisons to Mirror's Edge, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and Shadow of the Colossus, though motorslice.org notes the movement is deliberately weighty rather than fluid. That distinction matters: if you go in expecting Ghostrunner's twitch speed, Chapter 1 will feel stiff. Give it until Chapter 2 and the rhythm becomes natural.

Chapter 1 is the game finding its footing. The blade trap section in Checkpoint 3 is the first moment where the platforming demands real precision, and the Dump Truck fight is a legitimate Shadow of the Colossus-style climb that sets the tone for everything that follows. The game runs about 9 to 10 hours across 8 chapters plus prologue and epilogue, all available on PC (Steam and GOG), PS5, Xbox, and Game Pass.

If you enjoy adventure games with movement-first design and boss encounters built around climbing rather than health bars, Motorslice earns its place in that genre. Head to the Motorslice game page for platform details and demo information before committing.
