"Doom is coming." That's the energy Marvel Studios brought to Shanghai this week, where Kevin Feige personally unveiled new concept art for Avengers: Doomsday at the Bilibili World 2026 event. The illustration spread across social media almost instantly after audience members photographed it, with visual development director Andy Park later sharing a cleaner version directly.
The image is a lot to take in. More than 20 confirmed heroes appear, and this almost certainly isn't the complete picture of what Marvel has planned.

The centerpiece nobody could miss
Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the MCU as Doctor Doom sits at the heart of the composition, and the concept art gives fans the clearest look yet at his shiny metal mask. That casting announcement alone has been driving ticket anticipation for months, and seeing Doom rendered in full here only adds to the pressure building around the December 18 premiere.
Also quietly present in the middle of the image: Loki (Tom Hiddleston), frozen in the exact position fans last saw him at the end of Loki Season 2. Whether that detail is narrative foreshadowing or just a visual callback is anyone's guess right now.
X-Men, Thunderbolts, and a short-haired Thor
The left side of the image packs in the Thunderbolts (now rebranded as the New Avengers), including Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell). Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) makes his return here too, alongside a noticeably short-haired Thor (Chris Hemsworth), which will definitely spark some conversation.
The bottom corner belongs to the X-Men, and the lineup is genuinely exciting. Cyclops (James Marsden) appears in full costume, joined by Beast (Kelsey Grammer), Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), and Gambit (Channing Tatum). Getting this many original Fox-era X-Men back in one frame is something fans have been speculating about for years.
The Fantastic Four and the right side of the image
The right half of the illustration brings back the full cast from The Fantastic Four: First Steps, with Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal) among the most prominent figures. Black Panther (Letitia Wright) and Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) round out that section, confirming both characters have roles in the team-up.
It's a lot of heroes to juggle in a single film, and co-director Joe Russo leaned into that ambition last month when he described Doomsday as putting the MCU "back to phase zero." That framing suggests the film isn't just a continuation but something closer to a hard reset.
Still no trailer, but the hype keeps building
Here's the thing: this concept art drop is the latest in a string of teases that haven't included actual footage. Downey Jr. posted a Father's Day illustration earlier this year that sent fans into a theory spiral, and now this. The film premieres December 18, 2026, and a proper trailer still hasn't arrived.
Before Doomsday lands, Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters July 31, 2026, giving Marvel fans something to hold them over.
