BetBoom Team paused its Dota 2 operations on November 2, 2026, moving all five active players to inactive status. The decision follows two early tournament exits for an experimental lineup assembled after The International.
The organization said in its Telegram announcement that recent results had fallen short of its ambitions. Dota 2 was where the BetBoom Team brand began four years ago, and the club framed this decision as time to reconsider its direction rather than a goodbye.
The post-TI experiment ends before December
BetBoom finished fourth at The International 2026, giving the organization a strong result before its latest reshuffle. The lineup that followed had been expected to stay together at least until December 2026. Instead, its run has stopped with several events still ahead on the calendar.
The changes went well beyond replacing one player. Captain and support player Save- moved to mid after Danil "gpK~" Skutin went inactive, while swedenstrong joined at position four. That meant changing both the personnel and the positional responsibilities familiar to readers of the Dota 2 strategy guides.
Alexander "TORONTOTOKYO" Khertek also joined as coach for the new setup. The experiment then produced these finishes:
| Tournament | BetBoom Team finish |
|---|---|
| BLAST Slam VIII | 9th–12th |
| PARI Universe by FISSURE | 9th–10th |
Those results left the reshuffled team outside the top eight at both events, a sharp contrast with the organization's TI finish.
The whole lineup moves to inactive
The decision covers every player on BetBoom's final active roster:
- Ilya "Kiritych" Ulyanov
- Save-
- Matvey "MieRo" Vasyunin
- swedenstrong
- Vladislav "Kataomi" Semyonov
CEO Artem "pioneer" Saveliev said on his personal Telegram channel that the decision was difficult, but the competitive assessment pointed toward radical changes. His explanation went beyond finding different players: the club needs time to rebuild internally, rethink its approach, and work out what a return could look like.
Saveliev also thanked the players, coaches, and staff involved in the project.
Do Konca offers a route forward for four players
Most of the benched group is set to keep competing. Team manager Luka "Lukawa" Nasuashvili said the upcoming Do Konca lineup will feature Kiritych, MieRo, Save-, and Kataomi alongside Gleb "kiyotaka" Zyryanov. That gives four members of BetBoom's last lineup a continuing project under a different name.
BetBoom had been due to compete at:
- ESSENCE III
- BLAST Slam IX
- DreamLeague Season 30
Replacement teams for BetBoom's places at ESSENCE III and BLAST Slam IX have not yet been identified. Those tournament slots are the immediate calendar issue, while Lukawa's announcement points toward further competition for the players.
