Phantom Blade Zero surpassed 700,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch, reaching a peak of 723,876 on October 29, 2026. That puts S-GAME's martial arts action RPG ahead of several established RPGs on Steam.

The game launched on PlayStation 5 and PC, with the PC release available through Steam and the Epic Games Store. It also reached No. 1 on the platform's global top-sellers chart.

The opening rush kept growing

Before release, Phantom Blade Zero had passed 3 million wishlists across platforms. Estimated digital preorders had reached approximately 850,000 copies, giving S-GAME a substantial audience before anyone could start Soul's story.

Once the game unlocked, Steam concurrency crossed 100,000 in less than 20 minutes and exceeded 430,000 within three hours. The eventual launch-day peak showed that the opening rush continued well beyond those first arrivals.

The PC version runs on Unreal Engine 5. For players joining that opening crowd, the Phantom Blade Zero PC settings guide covers graphics tuning for steadier combat performance.

How it stacks up against other RPGs

Phantom Blade Zero has entered some heavyweight company, although Black Myth: Wukong remains far ahead. These Steam peaks put the size of its opening audience into perspective:

GamePeak concurrent Steam players
Black Myth: Wukong2,415,714
Cyberpunk 20771,054,388
Elden Ring953,426
Hogwarts Legacy879,308
Baldur's Gate 3875,343
Fallout 4approximately 472,962

Behind the numbers is a combat system spanning more than 30 weapon types. Boss fights preserve completed phases to reduce repeated attempts, while the setting combines traditional wuxia with steampunk and occult elements.

Players control Soul, an assassin framed for his master's murder. A fatal heart injury leaves him with 66 days to live as he investigates the conspiracy, giving the martial arts action a ticking-clock premise.
