Phantom Blade Zero has a day-one update that improves ray tracing and path tracing performance, but S-Game also warns that Nvidia driver 621.01 has performance instability. The patch arrives on PC and PS5, with a separate driver recommendation for GeForce users.
Lighting improvements and two download sizes
The launch update includes several bug fixes alongside its performance work. Download sizes differ by platform:
- PC: Approximately 5 GB.
- PS5: Approximately 2 GB, appearing as version 1.301.524.
S-Game has also spent time refining the game's rasterized visuals, aiming to preserve each environment's art direction with ray tracing switched off. That's relevant if you're choosing frame rate over the more demanding lighting options.
The studio says Phantom Blade Zero has been extensively tested on mid-range and lower-end PCs, as well as handheld devices. For the hardware specifications, the PC requirements and editions guide covers the minimum and recommended setups.
S-Game recommends Nvidia driver 617.42
For Nvidia users, 617.42 is the driver S-Game says currently delivers the best experience in Phantom Blade Zero. Its recommendation covers players who have already installed a version newer than 617.42, rather than only those running 621.01.
Creative director and S-Game CEO Soulframe Liang also addressed preloaded copies: those installations need the day-one patch downloaded and installed before launching. Fresh downloads automatically include the latest version.
If you're still preparing the installation, check the release time, preload, and file-size guide for Phantom Blade Zero's platform-specific download details.
