"Rank up, and we'll see you again in MW4," Treyarch signed off in the Season 6 patch notes, and that one line tells you everything about where Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is right now. Season 6 is the final ranked season before the spotlight shifts to Modern Warfare 4, and Treyarch is clearly not letting it go quietly.

The season went live today, and it's stacked. Halloween is close enough that The Haunting has returned, bringing horror-themed maps, limited-time modes, and a full Doom crossover event pass that lets you drop into matches as the Doom Slayer himself. For fans of id Software's original hellscape, DOOM 3 helped cement the franchise's horror credentials back in the day, and seeing that DNA bleed into a Call of Duty Halloween event feels like a natural fit.

What the Doom event pass actually gets you

The Doom event pass runs for a limited time, and there's a free track worth grabbing before it expires. Free rewards include the 'Researcher' operator skin for Wei Lin, the 'Scientist' skin for Falkner, and the Roc 20mm semi-auto cannon, which also appears as one of the four new Season 6 weapons.

Upgrade to the paid track and you unlock the Doom Slayer as a full operator for JSOC, plus an alternate 'Doom Guy' skin. It's a clean fit for a season built around horror, and the Slayer's armor reads surprisingly well against Black Ops 7's aesthetic.

New maps: from Arctic ice to undead homesteads

The headline multiplayer addition is Quantum, a Guild quantum computing facility buried under Arctic ice. Dense cover defines the center of the map, but flanking routes open up on all sides, so expect fast rotations and plenty of off-angle plays. Alongside it is Bloodstead, a re-themed version of Homestead where zombies now prowl the map, and Hordepoint mode ties directly into that, putting a Zombies twist on the classic Hardpoint formula.

The 6v6 TEDD Trials are the most interesting addition on paper. Three Zombies locations, Roadkill (based on Exit 115 from Ashes of the Damned), Inferno (the ancestral castle from Kowakujo), and Lost (the Totenreich lighthouse), get pulled into standard multiplayer. Five trials cycle through each match, Ray Guns are available as pickups, and the first team to hit the score limit wins. It's a genuinely different structure for MP.

Four new weapons and what they're actually for

The battle pass delivers two weapons this season. The VMP submachine gun is full-auto, fast, and built for close-range flankers who want reliable damage without sacrificing mobility. The TR51 Para assault rifle sits at the other end, with high bullet velocity and serious damage output that makes it effective at range. It ships as semi-auto but can be configured to full-auto, giving it flexibility most ARs don't have.

Event rewards cover the other two. The Arcblade is a bladed tonfa variant built for speed, described as combining a knifelike blade with a grip-and-frame design for fast, high-damage melee. The Roc 20mm is the opposite end of the spectrum: a semi-auto cannon with devastating damage that can also flip to full-auto, though its recoil will punish anyone who forgets that.

Zombies gets a survival map and a super easter egg

The new Zombies content this season centers on Tenshu, a survival map set in a confined section of Kowakujo. How long you can hold out is the whole point. Directed mode arrives for Rex Infernus, and Starting Room brings players back to the original Nacht der Untoten from World at War, with limited resources and no way out.

Rogue Run picks up more pedestal rewards, Avalon gets a night mode with a special summoning event, and a new super easter egg can unlock The Warden as a playable operator. That last one will keep the easter egg hunting community busy for a while.

Warzone's Haunted Hollow and the 64-player Infected mode

Warzone's seasonal event is Haunted Hollow, a reskin of Haven's Hollow where cosmic tentacles take over the skyline, fires rage through the lumbermill, and a gravity vortex sits at the mansion. The Ghost Train roams the map as a loot source, but you'll need to phase it back into reality before accessing it. Pumpkin collectibles scattered across the map offer either a reward or a penalty, which is the kind of risk-reward loop that works well in a battle royale setting.

The 64-player Giant Infected mode is the big Warzone addition. Eight players start as Infected, and anyone eliminated joins their side. The undead grow stronger over time and can accelerate that by collecting DNA from downed survivors. The surviving team wins by building and defending a DNA bomb until it detonates. It's a solid asymmetric structure that should play very differently from standard Warzone.

With Modern Warfare 4 on the horizon and Black Ops 7's ranked season now in its final three weeks, Season 6 reads like a genuine send-off. Treyarch packed it with content, the Doom crossover is a fun seasonal hook, and the Zombies additions alone give long-term players a reason to log back in.
