Sucker Punch is marking the one-year anniversary of Ghost of Yotei with something more substantial than a patch note. The Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition launches October 1, 2026, bringing a full narrative expansion, a brand-new roguelike combat mode, and a stack of cosmetic additions, all in one package.

What Echoes of Sekigahara actually adds

The headliner here is Echoes of Sekigahara, a narrative expansion that introduces a new character named Nagato, someone from Atsu's past. The story splits across two timelines: the present, where players explore a valley once controlled by The Snake and his gang, the Vipers; and the past, where Atsu's role in the actual Battle of Sekigahara gets explored in full.

That dual-timeline structure is genuinely interesting. The base game does a lot of work establishing Atsu's motivation for returning home, but the Battle of Sekigahara is referenced more than it's shown. Getting to play through those events directly should fill in some meaningful gaps in her character arc.

The expansion also adds new enemies, new heavy weapons, new armor sets, and dyes. No specific counts confirmed yet, but Sucker Punch says more details are coming before October.

Most Wanted is the roguelike mode nobody expected

Most Wanted is Sucker Punch's take on a roguelike survival mode, and the structure sounds genuinely replayable. Players accept bounties to kick off a run, fight through waves of enemies, collect perks, and unlock additional playable characters along the way.

Here's the thing that makes it more than a generic horde mode: each character has a distinct weapon focus. Atsu runs with dual katana, Oyuki uses kusarigama, and Nagato (the new expansion character) wields a yari. That kind of specialization should make character selection feel like an actual decision rather than a cosmetic one.

tip
Most Wanted is single-player only. No co-op details have been announced for this mode.

Pricing and what existing owners actually pay

The Complete Edition is priced at $69.99. Players who already own the base game can grab the upgrade for $14.99, which is a reasonable ask given the amount of content being added.

Buy before September 30 and you also get early access to the Sakai Armor in October, a direct nod to Jin Sakai's family armor from Ghost of Tsushima. It's a nice touch for players who came to Yotei from the original game.

Everything else bundled in

Beyond the two major content additions, the Complete Edition packages in everything that was previously exclusive to the digital deluxe edition, plus the Charm of Hokkyokusei. The full list of extras:

  • New music tracks for Watanabe Mode
  • Additional photo mode stamps
  • New cosmetics for New Game+
  • New Trophies tied to both Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted

There's also a free patch dropping on October 1 called Beauty of Yotei, which adds a screensaver-style mode that cycles through Ezo's environments. That one's available to all players regardless of edition.

Why this timing makes sense

One-year anniversary editions aren't new, but the combination of a story expansion and a roguelike mode is a stronger package than most games offer at this point in their lifecycle. Most Wanted in particular feels like the kind of addition that could bring lapsed players back for a few dozen hours, especially with the character variety built in.

For anyone who held off on the base game, $69.99 for the Complete Edition on day one of its release is a solid entry point. And at $14.99 for the upgrade, existing owners aren't being asked to pay full price twice.

If you're jumping in fresh or picking things back up, the Ghost of Yotei ultimate beginner's guide covers everything you need to hit the ground running before Echoes of Sekigahara drops.
