Digital preloading for Grand Theft Auto 6 begins on November 10, 2026, two days earlier than previously announced, with Rockstar Games setting the space requirement at up to 212GB.
The game launches on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar's November 3 announcement changes the download schedule, while retail code-in-box purchases keep their separate availability date.
PS5 and Xbox follow different clocks
The earlier preload window opens differently on each platform. Rockstar has set a local rollout for PlayStation players and a single worldwide start for Xbox:
| Platform | Preload opening time |
|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | Midnight local time on November 10 |
| Xbox Series X|S | 12 a.m. GMT on November 10 globally |
Retail boxes keep their later date
Code-in-box versions for both consoles should be available at retailers beginning November 12.
The GTA 6 edition comparison breaks down the purchase options for players still deciding which version to buy.
Leonida's map gets a separate release
Rockstar is also making the GTA 6 cover art poster and map of Leonida available as a free printable digital download through its official site on launch day. That gives players a way to get a physical map without buying a separate print.
A double-sided physical version featuring the cover art and map will follow shortly after launch through the Rockstar Store. It will cost $0.99 on its own or come as a free gift with any store purchase. The physical map will not be included in the code-in-box editions, a departure from past GTA boxed releases.
