GRAVHOUNDS Enters Early Access on PC and Xbox November 2

Octopus Panic has locked in November 2, 2026 as the Early Access launch date for GRAVHOUNDS on PC and Xbox, following the game's debut at Gamescom Opening Night Live this week. The studio, made up of veterans from DICE and 343 Industries, is bringing a physics-driven co-op experience built around a crew of bioengineered dogs doing blue-collar work on the far side of the galaxy.

If you enjoy digging into new co-op games, the strategy games section has plenty to keep you busy while the wait plays out.

What Octopus Panic is actually building here

The pedigree behind this studio is hard to ignore. Co-founder Josh Holmes previously led Halo Studios, and other team members bring experience from Battlefield development at DICE. That background shapes GRAVHOUNDS in an obvious way: the game draws directly on the kind of large-scale, physics-heavy multiplayer chaos both franchises became known for, just filtered through something much weirder.

You and up to three friends play as bioengineered dogs sent to complete jobs in increasingly hostile conditions. Holmes described the core fantasy in plain terms: "GRAVHOUNDS started with a simple idea: a crew of blue-collar dogs stranded on the far side of the galaxy, still expected to show up for work. For us, the best co-op moments are when things unexpectedly go off the rails, and somehow you still pull it off together."

That philosophy, plans going sideways and the team improvising through the chaos, is the entire point. The game is built around survival and extraction mechanics layered on top of that physics-driven foundation.

tip
GRAVHOUNDS supports up to four players in co-op and is entering Early Access, meaning the build players get on November 2 will continue to evolve based on community feedback.

The Gamescom reveal and what it tells us

Debuting at Gamescom Opening Night Live is a meaningful signal. The event draws some of the highest viewership in the industry for a pre-show format, and Octopus Panic used the slot well. A full trailer dropped alongside the date announcement, giving players their first real look at the physics systems and the dog-crew aesthetic in motion.

The game can already be wishlisted on both Steam and the Windows Store ahead of the November launch. Early Access means the studio is committing to an ongoing development loop with players in the mix from day one, which fits the co-op-first design. Games built around emergent multiplayer moments tend to benefit from that kind of live feedback.

November 2 is closer than it looks

With the date confirmed and wishlists open, the runway to Early Access is short. Octopus Panic is a debut studio, but the talent behind it has shipped some of the most-played multiplayer games in history. That context matters when you're evaluating how seriously to take the November 2 target.

For players who want to stay ahead of the curve on new co-op releases, the gaming guides hub is a good place to check back once hands-on coverage starts rolling in closer to launch. If GRAVHOUNDS lands the way its creators are describing it, expect a lot of people talking about it before the year ends.
