Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Gets a First-Person Camera Mod on PC

A new Nexus Mods release adds a first-person camera to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PC, letting players swing and fight as Miles or Peter from a whole new angle.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Gets a First-Person Camera Mod on PC

A modder named Pcniado has dropped a first-person camera mod for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on PC, and the timing makes a lot of sense. The release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day has pushed a noticeable wave of players back to Insomniac's PC version, and concurrent player counts on Steam have climbed since the film hit. That renewed interest is clearly fueling the modding scene.

What the mod actually does

The mod is available on Nexus Mods and does exactly what it says: it puts you behind the mask. Playing as either Miles Morales or Peter Parker, the camera shifts to a first-person perspective instead of the usual third-person follow cam. A screenshot from the mod page shows the toggle sits directly in the in-game settings menu, so switching between first and third person doesn't require any external tool or restart.

Swinging through Manhattan skyscrapers from this view is obviously the headline feature. The city looks different when the camera is locked to your head rather than floating behind you, and the speed of web-swinging hits differently when you can't see Peter or Miles at all. Combat also flips to first-person, which changes the entire feel of the fight system. The third-person camera in the base game gives you a wide read on enemy positions, so losing that awareness is a real adjustment.

important
This is a community mod, not an official Insomniac update. Expect occasional troubleshooting and compatibility issues, especially after any game patches.

The learning curve is real

Here's the thing: the base game's combat is designed around that third-person awareness. You can track multiple enemies, dodge attacks from off-screen, and time parries based on visual cues that appear behind your character. First-person strips all of that away. You'll only see what's directly in front of you, which means juggling a crowd of enemies becomes genuinely harder.

Swinging has a similar adjustment period. Web-swinging in third person lets you read the geometry of the city ahead of you. First-person compresses that view and makes the timing of web-release and momentum management feel much more reactive.

Whether that difficulty spike makes the game more fun or more frustrating depends entirely on what you're after. For players who've already cleared the story and want a fresh way to experience the city, this mod delivers something the base game never offered.

Why this matters for the PC version

Marvels Spider-Man 2 launched on PC in January 2025, and the PC community has been building out a mod library ever since. A first-person mode is one of those features fans have requested for open-world games for years, and when it doesn't come officially, modders fill the gap. The renewed player count spike tied to the Brand New Day film gives mods like this a bigger audience than they'd normally find.

If you want to dig deeper into the game before or after trying the mod, the Marvel's Spider-Man 2 guides cover everything from combat tips to collectible locations. And for broader gaming content beyond this one title, the full gaming guides hub has you covered across the rest of the library.
