The PS5 release will offer the base game, Lost Memories DLC, and a bundle that packages them together. Complete Edition is the option that includes both the original adventure and the additional content.

Nintendo Switch will get its Complete Edition bundle on November 19. That bundle is priced at $17.99, with a 10% launch discount. Its contents follow the same base-game-plus-DLC arrangement announced for PS5.

Roy has 99,999 HP, but Meg needs protecting

Meg's Monster takes place in the Underworld, a land populated by monsters and mutants that eat humans. Roy, a hulking ogre with no interest in eating people, and his best friend Golan find a lost human girl named Meg.

Her arrival presents a problem beyond getting her out of danger. When Meg begins crying in fear, the sky turns blood-red and the earth shakes. Her tears can bring about the apocalypse, so Roy and Golan set out to find her mother and get her home safely.

Players control Roy, who begins with 99,999 HP and is virtually untouchable. His strength does not remove the battle's central risk: if Meg starts crying, it is game over.

The encounters make protecting her part of the combat system:

  • Battles contain their own mechanics and mini-games.
  • Roy must keep Meg safe during the fighting.
  • Meg's favorite toys can be used to keep her calm.

Keeping Meg safe during battle

The battle setup puts the vulnerable companion at the center of each encounter, despite the enormous health total attached to the playable monster. Managing Meg's distress is a requirement for getting through the fights, not simply a story detail between them.

Roy and Meg's journey also includes encounters outside that central combat setup. Optional sub-events let them befriend previously defeated enemies, giving some opponents a role beyond their initial battles.

The story follows the pair as they uncover mysteries surrounding the Underworld and themselves. PS5 players can begin that search when Meg's Monster launches.
