The Highly-Anticipated Naruto Trading Card Game Launch! Plus, a Special Illustration and Comment from Masashi Kishimoto! | NARUTO OFFICIAL SITE ( NARUTO & BORUTO)

The TCG market has been on fire for years, and BANDAI CARD GAMES just threw another major franchise into the mix. A trailer for the Naruto Card Game has surfaced ahead of Gen Con 2026, marking the first significant new appearance for the Naruto franchise in over three years. For fans of anime TCGs and monster card games like Kaiju Cards, this announcement signals that the genre is only getting bigger.

Why this announcement lands harder than it looks

Bandai already runs one of the most dominant TCG portfolios outside of Pokémon. The One Piece Card Game turned into a genuine phenomenon, with rare singles fetching prices well into the thousands. The Dragon Ball Super Card Game, Digimon Card Game, and the newer Gundam Card Game all sit under the BANDAI CARD GAMES umbrella. Adding Naruto to that roster is not a small move.

Here's the thing: Naruto as a franchise has the kind of global recognition that very few anime properties can claim. Masashi Kishimoto's manga launched in 1999 and the anime followed in 2002. That is a fanbase spanning multiple generations of players, many of whom grew up collecting cards and are now exactly the demographic driving the current TCG boom.

Kishimoto himself commented on the announcement, and his words carry real weight for long-time fans:

important
Kishimoto stated: "I'm glad to see the world of NARUTO grow larger once again. I truly hope these cards find their way to both your hands and your hearts."

What Gen Con 2026 will actually show players

The Naruto Card Game will make its public debut at Gen Con 2026, and Bandai is not just showing up with a display booth. Tutorial sessions are planned, giving attendees a hands-on introduction to how the game actually plays. That matters because, as of now, no card images or detailed mechanics have been officially revealed. Gen Con is where the curtain properly lifts.

Participants who complete a tutorial session will walk away with a gift set that includes a promotional card titled "CP-001 Chakra Card -Gen Con 2026 Ver.-" along with additional merchandise. That promo card is almost certainly going to be the first collectible piece of what could become a very large secondary market.

Registrations for the tutorial sessions were scheduled to open on June 21 through the Gen Con website. If you are planning to attend, you will want to move quickly on that.

The TCG timing makes sense right now

The broader TCG scene is in a genuinely strong period. Pokémon and One Piece have kept physical card collecting relevant for a new generation, and even major tabletop properties like Magic: The Gathering have been pulling in crossover IP sets. Naruto entering this space now, with Bandai's existing distribution infrastructure and tournament infrastructure behind it, puts the game in a strong position from day one.

What most players miss when a new TCG launches is that the early promo cards almost always become the most sought-after pieces in a set's long-term history. The Gen Con 2026 Chakra Card is exactly that kind of early collectible.

The game is confirmed for release next year, so Gen Con 2026 represents the first real window into what Bandai has been building. For players who want to get ahead of the curve on strategy and mechanics once more details drop, the gaming guides hub is worth bookmarking for when coverage ramps up.

Gen Con 2026 runs in Indianapolis, and the Naruto Card Game demo area is shaping up to be one of the more crowded stops on the show floor.
