Nintendo Music received another batch of Mario Kart World Free Roam tracks today, July 7, 2026, bringing 16 new songs to the app. The update draws heavily from the classic Game Boy and SNES era, pulling tracks from Super Mario World, Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, and Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3.
A month of free roam music drops
The Mario Kart World soundtrack first arrived on Nintendo Music at the start of June, and Nintendo has kept the momentum going with multiple Free Roam song batches since then. The Free Roam category specifically covers the ambient tracks that play while you cruise around the open world between races, and Nintendo has been steadily expanding that library week by week.
This latest drop is the biggest yet in terms of retro representation. Super Mario World alone accounts for 11 of the 16 new tracks, including the iconic Overworld Medley, the Castle BGM, the Koopalings BGM, and several regional Ground BGM variants (Rock 'n' Roll, Ska, Country). Hearing those SNES-era arrangements reimagined for open-world cruising hits differently than you might expect.

What else Nintendo dropped this week
The Free Roam music update is not the only Nintendo content arriving today. New Switch Online play-to-unlock icons based on Clu Clu Land and Kuru Kuru Kururin are also live. Later this week, Tetris 99 is hosting a crossover event tied to the newly released Star Fox title on Switch 2.
Last week also brought a game update to Mario Kart World itself, adding more Knockout Tour Rallies to the rotation with further additions still on the way.
The pattern here is clear: Nintendo is treating Mario Kart World as an ongoing live experience, feeding both the in-game content and the companion app simultaneously. For players who spend serious time in Free Roam mode, the music library is becoming genuinely impressive.
