Pirate Nation Event Offers 3+ Million in Prizes

Pirate Nation is turning up the heat this summer with Season 2 of Infinite Tides: Legendary Depths, a revamped PvE event that’s now live from July 8 through July 22. This time around, players are competing for a massive 3.4 million $PIRATE token prize pool - roughly $125,000 in current value - spread across two new leaderboards. Whether you’re a longtime player or just getting into this on-chain RPG, there’s a lot to dig into.

If you haven’t jumped into Pirate Nation yet, here’s the breakdown: it’s a web3 turn-based RPG built entirely on-chain using the Arbitrum network. The game is developed by Proof of Play and backed by a16z, and it runs right in your browser. Players control customizable pirates and ships, building card-based battle decks to complete quests and take down enemies in tactical PvE combat.

The game is free-to-play in beta, and getting started is as simple as connecting a crypto wallet or signing in with Discord or Google. Pirate Nation leans heavily into on-chain mechanics, with player progress and rewards tied to in-game actions that live directly on the blockchain.

Infinite Tides Adds Roguelite PvE to the Mix

Infinite Tides is a newer addition to Pirate Nation, having launched in early June 2025. It’s a roguelite-style PvE mode that pushes players to survive wave after wave of enemies using just a single ship - no healing between waves unless you’ve earned it. Players start with a deck of 11 cards, with four of those determined by their pirate and ship choice. Win a fight, and you get to add a new card to your deck from a set of options.

VIP Pass holders get a fourth choice, giving them a small edge in shaping their deck. The mode is technically free-to-play, offering three keys every 24 hours to launch runs. You can buy up to three more each day with Gems, and VIP subscribers get one extra key daily.

Season 2 Brings Bigger Stakes and Leaderboards

Season 2 is a clear step up from the first run of Infinite Tides. Instead of just offering cosmetic rewards like the Hanzo the Samurai skin, this time the developers have introduced competitive leaderboards and a 3.4 million $PIRATE prize pool.

Players are scored based on both how far they get and how efficiently they clear each wave. The fewer rounds you take and the more damage you deal - especially to the boss that appears every five waves - the better your score. Boss waves even come with a 3x score multiplier, so smart plays during those rounds can make or break your leaderboard rank.

There are two leaderboards now: Top Run, which scores your single best performance, and Total Runs, which adds up all your scores across the event. The Top Run board rewards the top 1,000 players, while the Total Runs board pays out to the top 10,000.

Scoring high could earn you a cut of the prize pool, with 21,000 $PIRATE going to first place on each leaderboard. The rest of the rewards scale down from there, with everyone in the top 10,000 getting at least 200 $PIRATE if they’re eligible.

How to Get In and Start Earning

To qualify for rewards during Season 2, you’ll need to either hold a Founder’s Pirate NFT or buy a VIP Pass. The VIP Pass is the more accessible option, with a one-month subscription costing 220 $PIRATE - currently around $8.15. Along with leaderboard eligibility, the pass includes one extra Infinite Tides key per day, a bonus card choice after every wave, energy regeneration perks, and a 25% discount on the Founder’s Pirate NFT.

If you do go the NFT route, it currently sells for about 0.2039 ETH and gives you a 20% bonus on any $PIRATE tokens you earn from the event. Both options unlock access to Season 2 rewards as long as you place on the leaderboards before the event wraps up on July 22 at 00:00 UTC.

Season 2 Is a Promising Step Forward

With better rewards, more competitive structure, and improved gameplay mechanics - including new healing options after boss battles and updated card choices - Season 2 of Infinite Tides shows that Pirate Nation is serious about evolving its core PvE experience. Affinity damage has also been removed to simplify combat strategy, which should help level the playing field a bit for newer players.

While it’s still early days for Pirate Nation, the team is clearly listening to community feedback and building out systems that reward time and skill. If you’re looking for a web3 game that mixes roguelite strategy with on-chain incentives, Season 2 is a solid time to jump aboard.
