The giant mech PvP game built its following almost entirely on mobile, then expanded to PC and PlayStation, and now it has quietly arrived on the Microsoft Store alongside a second free-to-play title, Incremental Epic Hero 2, with both games available on Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X.

A mobile giant steps onto the couch
Here's the thing about War Robots: most console players have genuinely never heard of it, yet it has been running as a live service on mobile for years and clearly built a massive player base in that time. The Xbox version pitches itself as the same core tactical shooter experience that made the mobile game work, adapted for controllers and console performance. Players drop into PvP battles, position giant mechs strategically, capture objectives, and upgrade their robots over time.
The console expansion is not entirely new territory for the franchise. A separate version called War Robots: Frontiers has been on the Xbox Store since 2025, though it never matched the traction of the main game. This latest release is the original War Robots title making its Xbox debut, which explains why the player count in the press materials sounds so large.
Early reception on Xbox has been mixed. The Steam version carries a Mixed rating from over 12,000 user reviews, and the Xbox Store version is currently sitting at 2.9 out of 5 in the US. That does not mean the game is unplayable, but it does suggest the experience may feel uneven for players coming in fresh without the mobile context.
The other arrival: Incremental Epic Hero 2
The second game to land is Incremental Epic Hero 2, an idle RPG that looks deliberately retro and plays exactly how the name implies. Six heroes adventure through a fantasy world automatically while you manage upgrades, and the developers claim over 1,000 hours of content are available. Its Steam rating sits at Mostly Positive, and early Xbox Store reviews have been reasonably warm.
IEH2 is a very different proposition to War Robots. Where one is a competitive multiplayer shooter built around mech customization and tactical positioning, the other is a slow-burn progression game designed to run in the background. The key here is that both are free downloads, so the barrier to trying either is basically zero.
What this means for Xbox players right now
The Xbox Store has seen a steady flow of free-to-play additions this year, and these two slot in quietly rather than making headlines with a big marketing push. Neither title is likely to pull players away from their current rotation, but War Robots in particular is worth a download if mech-based PvP sounds appealing and you have no prior exposure to it.
The timing is worth noting. This week is shaping up to be a busy one for Xbox releases more broadly, so these two free-to-play arrivals risk getting buried. If you follow the free-to-play space on console, both are live now and ready to download.
