The complaint was as old as Warzone itself: smaller squads getting punished by Public Events balanced around full four-person teams. Raven Software finally addressed it on August 12 with a patch that ties Juggernaut health directly to squad size, and also reworks one of the game's more underused killstreaks in the process.
Call of Duty: Warzone runs alongside Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 as part of the same live-service ecosystem, and patches to one frequently ripple across both. This one is Warzone-specific, but the changes are substantial enough that they'll reshape how matches play out across multiple modes.
What the Juggernaut health changes actually mean
Previously, a Juggernaut in Solos had the same health pool as one in Quads. That meant a solo player faced the same mountain of HP that four teammates would typically burn through together. Not ideal.
The new numbers fix that directly. Solo Juggernauts now have 50% of the standard health pool. Duos get 70%. Quads stay unchanged. Raven's own explanation for the change calls out the old system as "disproportionately difficult for smaller teams," which is a pretty candid admission that the design was off.
The studio also flagged that further Juggernaut updates are in the pipeline as they monitor feedback and data, so this isn't the final word on the Public Event.
HKD killstreak gets a serious rework
The HKD changes are more technical but equally meaningful for anyone who actually runs killstreaks. Here's the full breakdown of what changed:
The explosion damage nerf is the most notable number here. Cutting timeout damage from 220 to 60 is a significant reduction, which means the HKD becomes less of a passive damage dealer and more of a genuine tracking tool. The expanded search radius (up from 38 to 55 meters) and longer timeout window (10 to 16 seconds) compensate by making it far better at locating players.
The EMP interaction is a smart addition. It gives opponents a meaningful counter that requires actual decision-making rather than just waiting out a timer. The requirement to lose 2 HKDs before calling in another one also prevents players from spamming the killstreak in rapid succession.
Bug fixes and what else shipped
The patch also includes fixes for Quick Fix, Gunsmith, and various challenge-tracking bugs, though Raven didn't elaborate on specifics beyond the Juggernaut and HKD changes in the summary notes. The full patch notes are live on the official Call of Duty website if you want the complete list.
The Juggernaut scaling change is the kind of quality-of-life fix that solo and duo players have wanted for a while. It doesn't overhaul the game, but it removes a friction point that made smaller-squad modes feel punishing in a way that had nothing to do with skill. Pair that with an HKD that now actually tracks well and you have a killstreak worth considering in your loadout again.
