Two of Sony's biggest PS5 titles this fall are giving players free costumes just for showing up. Marvel's Wolverine and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls are doing a proper crossover, and neither costume will cost you a single dollar.

What each game actually gets

Insomniac Games announced the crossover on July 23, 2026, confirming a two-way costume swap between the two titles. The deal is straightforward: each game picks up a suit themed around the other, both free, both tied to specific dates.

Players who jump into Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on September 1 will find the Battle Reborn suit from Marvel's Wolverine already waiting. That's two weeks before Wolverine's PS5 launch, so it functions as a hype builder as much as a bonus costume.

Then, when Marvel's Wolverine drops on September 15, Logan will have access to his Marvel Tokon outfit from day one. You unlock it through normal game progression, meaning no separate purchase, no battle pass tier, and no time-limited event to stress about.

The September 1 date is the interesting part

Here's the thing: dropping the Battle Reborn suit into Fighting Souls two weeks early is a deliberate move. Anyone playing the fighter in early September is going to spend time running around as Wolverine in a suit pulled directly from a game that hasn't launched yet. That's a preview you can actually wear.

For players who are already invested in the Marvel Tokon roster, it also plants the Wolverine PS5 launch date firmly in their heads right when they're most engaged with Marvel content.

tip
Both costumes are free of charge. The Marvel Tokon suit unlocks in Marvel's Wolverine via in-game progression at launch on September 15, while the Battle Reborn suit arrives in Fighting Souls on September 1.

Sony's superhero PS5 push

Sony has been deliberate about building PS5 as the home for Marvel games, and this crossover fits that pattern neatly. Having two Marvel titles actively promote each other through in-game content keeps players within the same ecosystem rather than treating each release as a standalone event.

Insomniac has been building toward this Wolverine launch for years, and tying it to Fighting Souls creates a shared moment across two very different game types. One is a linear action game, the other a fighting game, but both are pulling from the same Marvel well.

What to expect from Logan's look

The Marvel Tokon suit brings Fighting Souls' distinct visual style into Insomniac's game, while the Battle Reborn suit carries a more grounded, battle-worn aesthetic into the fighter. Concept art for the Battle Reborn suit leans into the kind of worn-down, post-fight look that suits a character who heals from everything but still shows the wear.

Neither costume changes gameplay, but having two distinct looks tied to a crossover event gives both games a reason to talk about each other in the weeks surrounding launch.

What this means for players heading into September

If you're planning to play both games anyway, you're getting two free cosmetics with zero extra steps beyond normal progression. If you're only picking up one, the crossover is still a nice touch without being something you'll feel like you're missing out on.

For everything else heading into the September 15 launch, the Marvel's Wolverine guides collection is the place to start building out your knowledge before the game drops. And if you've been wondering about the structure of the game itself, the breakdown of whether Marvel's Wolverine is an open world game is worth a read before you set your expectations.
