Marvel's Wolverine is a focused, linear action game built around 30 story missions that take Logan from a bar fight in Telambang all the way through Canada, Madripoor, and Japan. Unlike Insomniac's Spider-Man games, there's no open world to roam. Every chapter drops you straight into the action, and the pacing reflects that. Whether you're trying to plan a completionist run or just want to know what you're getting into, here's everything you need.
How long is Marvel's Wolverine?
A standard playthrough lands at roughly 15 to 20 hours depending on how deep you go. Players focused purely on the story can finish closer to 17 hours, while completionists hunting down every collectible and pushing for top ranks on Nightmare Trials can push past 20. The gap between a story-only run and a full completion run is smaller than you'd expect, since most collectibles sit in plain sight and individual Nightmare Trials typically take about a minute to finish.
tip
New Game Plus raises the level cap from 36 to 40 and introduces new Techniques and Adaptations, so a second run plays noticeably differently from your first.
Most individual missions take around 30 minutes to complete. A handful are shorter, particularly the boss-fight-only missions near the end of each chapter.
The game organizes its 30 missions across four main chapters plus a Finale. Here's the full list:

Japan is the longest single chapter with 9 missions, and it's where the story's momentum really builds. Telambang is the shortest at just 3 missions, functioning as a prologue that introduces the combat before things escalate.
tip
The Finale revisits Madripoor's Lowtown heavily, with a brief return to Shinjuku for the penultimate mission before the credits roll in Madripoor.
Where do collectibles appear across missions?
20 of the 30 missions contain collectibles. The three types are Whiskey Bottles, Material Crates, and Nightmare Doors, and each has its own tracking system built into the game.
Nightmare Doors are marked by purple tree roots near their locations. Completing a trial behind each door unlocks a memory and rewards up to 4 AP depending on how fast you finish.
Whiskey Bottles are found by following blue scent lines. They also award AP when collected.
Material Crates emit audio cues through the controller and produce sonar-like pings on screen. Collecting these provides crafting materials for new suits, which directly increases Logan's maximum health.

Crafting suits matters more on harder difficulties, so tracking down Material Crates early is worth the extra time. For a mission-by-mission breakdown of every bottle location, the Marvel's Wolverine whisky bottle locations guide covers all 20 in order.
The missions with the densest collectible counts are in the Japan chapter. In the Shadows alone contains 7 Material Crates and 2 Whiskey Bottles, making it the single most collectible-heavy mission in the game. The Telambang missions (1 through 3) contain nothing, so don't stress about missing anything during the opening.
What are the boss missions?
Four missions are dedicated boss encounters with no collectibles to find:
Last Meal (Telambang) vs. Omega Red
For Our Future (Madripoor) vs. Sentinel Prototype
Death's Match (Japan) vs. Deathstrike
Red Right Hand (Finale) vs. Sabretooth
No Coming Back (Finale) vs. Nathaniel Essex
These missions are shorter than the average story mission and exist purely to deliver the big confrontations. Going in with maxed-out techniques makes a noticeable difference, especially against Essex. Check out the guide on best Techniques to unlock first before tackling the later bosses.
How do you replay missions in Marvel's Wolverine?
After completing your first Nightmare Trial during the Homecoming mission, you unlock the Nightmare Cabin. From here, you can replay any previously completed mission to mop up missed collectibles or retry combat challenges. The Nightmare Cabin is also accessible directly from the main menu once unlocked, so you don't need to load a save to get back to it.
This makes 100% completion genuinely manageable. Nothing is permanently missable as long as you've cleared the mission at least once.
tip
If you're chasing the platinum, replay missions through the Nightmare Cabin rather than starting a full New Game Plus run. It's faster for collectible cleanup.
Is there New Game Plus?
Yes. After completing the final mission and the post-credits sequence, New Game Plus becomes available. Your levels, Adaptations, Suits, and other progression carry over. The level cap increases from 36 to 40, and new Techniques and Adaptations become available that weren't accessible during the base playthrough. It's a meaningful incentive for a second run rather than a straight repeat.
For everything tied to completion, including trophies tied to suits and collectibles, the Marvel's Wolverine trophy list breaks down every achievement and what's needed to hit platinum.
