Overview
Path of Exile 2 stands as Grinding Gear Games' ambitious evolution of their acclaimed action RPG formula. Set two decades after the original game's events, this free-to-play title brings players back to Wraeclast during a period of rebuilding and renewed corruption. The game maintains the studio's commitment to ethical monetization while delivering enhanced gameplay systems, expanded cooperative features, and refined character progression mechanics.
The core experience revolves around exploring dark fantasy environments, battling hordes of enemies, and collecting increasingly powerful loot. Players can tackle the campaign and endgame content solo or team up with up to five other players for cooperative adventures. The game's skill system has been redesigned to offer more intuitive character building while preserving the depth that made the original so compelling.
Character progression follows a more streamlined approach compared to its predecessor, making the game more accessible to newcomers while retaining complexity for veterans. The passive skill tree remains expansive, but players now gain skill points through direct leveling rather than quest rewards, creating a more predictable progression path.
