PEAK finally made the jump to consoles, and Aggro Crab and Landfall did not hold anything back. The Console Edition launched October 22, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, bringing every content update the PC version has received, full crossplay across all platforms, and a physical edition that actually comes with a bonus copy for a friend.

What platforms is PEAK Console Edition on?

PEAK: Console Edition is available on three platforms simultaneously:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • Nintendo Switch 2

All three versions launched on the same day with crossplay enabled from the start, so the platform your friends own does not lock them out of a climb. The game supports one to four players, but online co-op is friends-only. There is no public matchmaking, meaning you invite up to three players directly and nobody else joins your session.

The PC version originally launched on Steam on June 16, 2025 and has since sold more than 10 million copies, with over 146,500 Steam reviews landing it an Overwhelmingly Positive rating. The console release brings that same version, fully updated, to players who skipped the PC launch.

What content is included at launch?

Every update the PC version received is included in the Console Edition at launch. That means all four biomes are available from day one:

Content UpdateWhat It Adds
GloomFirst major biome update with Belltowers, the Early Worm, and GLOOM-specific hazards
MesaSecond biome with its own environmental obstacles
RootsThird biome update
Additional updatesFurther content released post-launch on PC

No waiting for patches to catch up. Console players start with the full current build.

How does the daily mountain system work?

The mountain changes every 24 hours. A new map rotates in each day, so routes cannot be memorised and every attempt on a given day's island plays out on the same layout. You can run as many attempts as you want before the daily reset, which means failed climbs are practice runs rather than wasted sessions.

The four biomes each carry distinct hazards. Tornadoes, poison clouds, and zombies are among the threats waiting between you and the summit. Injuries reduce your stamina cap, so a bad stretch early in a run compounds as you climb higher. Scavenging for resources, managing health, and pulling teammates up ledges are the core loop.

What's in the PEAK physical edition?

The physical edition is PS5-only, distributed by Skybound Games, and priced at $19.99. The box contains three items:

  • A game disc
  • A physical Passport kit you can decorate with stickers based on in-game faces and outfits
  • A Buddy Code for one additional digital PS5 copy

The Buddy Code redeems a PS5 copy only, so it does not help a friend joining from Xbox or Switch 2. Those players need their own copy on their respective platform. That said, at $19.99 for two PS5 copies, the physical edition works out to roughly $10 per player for a pair starting together on PlayStation.

No release date for the physical edition was confirmed alongside the digital launch announcement, though pre-orders opened at launch through retailers including VGP.

What does crossplay actually change?

Here's why crossplay matters more in PEAK than in most games. Because online play is friends-only with no matchmaking, the platform your friends own directly determines whether they can join your session. Without crossplay, a group split across PS5, Xbox, and Switch 2 would have no way to climb together regardless of how many copies they own.

With crossplay enabled across all platforms at launch, platform choice becomes irrelevant for group play. Buy on whichever platform suits you and still climb with the full crew.

For a deeper look at how to actually survive those climbs together, the climbing strategies and team survival guide covers stamina management, biome-specific tactics, and how to coordinate a squad effectively.

Quick answer: Is the console edition worth it?

Worth it? Yes, especially if you have friends on different platforms. The $19.99 price point is low for a game with 10 million copies sold and an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam. The physical edition at the same price point with a Buddy Code is the better deal for two PS5 players starting fresh together.

The game does not pad its value with filler. Four biomes, a daily rotating mountain, dozens of badges, and a co-op structure that rewards coordination over individual skill make repeat runs feel different each time. For more on what you can unlock, the full PEAK guides collection has everything from badge-specific walkthroughs to survival strategies.
