Pokemon Pokopia Mysterious Slates Guide: How to Unlock Mew

Unlocking Mew in Pokemon Pokopia is one of the most satisfying goals in the game, and it all comes down to tracking down 27 Mysterious Slates hidden across your island. These ancient puzzle pieces correspond to every letter of the Unown Alphabet (plus the !? slate), and placing them all correctly on the Mysterious Mural brings Mew to your town as a permanent resident. Here is everything you need to know to hunt them down efficiently.

How Do You Get Mysterious Slates in Pokemon Pokopia?

There is exactly one way to obtain Mysterious Slates: breaking Glowing Spots found scattered across the ground. You cannot craft them, 3D print them, or purchase them anywhere. When you spot a Glowing Spot directly in front of your character, use Rock Smash to break it open and collect whatever is inside.

What Is the Dowsing Machine and Which Pokemon Should You Use?

The Dowsing Machine helps you locate additional Glowing Spots by having a Pokemon with the Search Specialty follow you around. As you explore, it will react when a hidden spot is nearby.

The best Search Specialty Pokemon to bring along are those that can fly or float:

  • Pidgey
  • Venomoth
  • Vespiquen
  • Zubat
  • Golbat
  • Dreepy

How Does Mosslax Improve Your Slate Farming?

Feeding Mosslax bitter food before a search run raises the odds of finding rare items from Glowing Spots. A Salad made with a Leaf and Seaweed as ingredients qualifies as bitter food. Plan your feeding around your search sessions so you do not waste the buff window.

When Is the Best Time to Search for Glowing Spots?

Glowing Spots refresh every real-world day, making daily exploration a strong habit to build. On Sundays (Lucky Days), Glowing Spots appear more frequently across all maps, giving you a noticeably higher volume of spots to break in a single session.

If you want to push efficiency further, you can manually change your device's date to Sunday repeatedly. This resets the daily spawn without waiting, letting you chain multiple high-frequency search sessions back to back.

List of All 27 Mysterious Slates

Each slate corresponds to one symbol from the Unown Alphabet. There are 26 letter slates plus one slate covering both ! and ?, bringing the total to 27.

How Do You Tell Which Slate Is Which?

Each slate has its corresponding Unown shape printed on its back. You can place a slate on the ground and rotate your camera around to the back of it to read the symbol. If you have a full set in your inventory, the auto-sort function will arrange them into the correct order automatically, saving a lot of manual checking.

The Mural itself also gives you a hint: when you place a slate in the correct slot, a short sparkle animation plays to confirm the match. You can also treat the whole thing as a puzzle if you prefer figuring it out without the visual cues.

Where Is the Mysterious Mural Located?

The Mysterious Mural sits in the Withered Wasteland, northeast of the Pokemon Center. To reach it:

  1. Head northeast from the Pokemon Center in Withered Wasteland.
  2. Break through the wall blocking the hidden area.
  3. Look to the left for a section with chiseled blocks in the wall.
  4. Break through that second wall to expose a staircase leading downward.
  5. Descend the stairs to find the Mural.

How Do You Use the Mysterious Slates on the Mural?

Attach each slate to the slot on the Mural that matches its Unown symbol. You do not need to complete the Mural in a single visit. Many players find it easier to slot each slate in immediately after picking it up rather than storing them all and doing it at once.

Once all 27 slates are placed correctly, Mew joins your island as a townsfolk. That is the entire reward for completing this puzzle.
