The Bubbly Basin DLC for Pokémon Pokopia is the biggest single content drop the game has seen, adding 36 new habitats and unlocking 50 new Pokémon spawns across the underwater area. If your Pokédex has gaps or you're not sure what to build next, this guide covers every habitat, every requirement, and every Pokémon that shows up when you get it right.

How many habitats are in Bubbly Basin?

There are exactly 36 new habitats introduced with the Bubbly Basin expansion, and they collectively unlock 50 new Pokémon spawns. Combined with the base game and all previous events, this brings the total habitat count in Pokopia to 250. More habitats are confirmed for future waves, so the number will keep climbing.

Some of these habitats are straightforward, just a few Seabed Tall Grass or Seabed Flowers and you're done. Others require specific decorative items like the Decorative Dive Ball, Decorative Net Ball, or a Gyarados Fountain that you'll need to track down or craft. If you're missing an item, the Pokémon Center's 3D printer can produce it, though that requires photographing the item in a friend's game or on a cloud island first.

Which habitats are the hardest to build?

Most early habitats in Bubbly Basin are manageable, requiring only natural items like Seabed Tall Grass or Sea Moss that you can gather directly in the area. The difficulty spikes noticeably once you get into the decorative item territory.

Mermaid's Gym (habitat 036) is the clearest example. It needs 6 Pedestals plus four specific decorative Pokéballs: the Decorative Great Ball, Decorative Heal Ball, Decorative Dive Ball, and Decorative Net Ball. These aren't items you stumble across naturally, so plan ahead and use the 3D printer at the Pokémon Center if you're stuck. The reward is Starmie, which makes the effort worth it.

Chimney Rocks Dig Site (habitat 015) is another one that catches players off guard, requiring a Wheelbarrow, Excavation Tools, and a Traffic Cone alongside the Chimney Rocks. It spawns both Croconaw and Sharpedo, so it's worth prioritizing if you want either of those.

For a broader look at how habitats work across the entire game, the complete Pokopia habitat building guide covers every requirement and spawn from the base game through the DLC.

Tips for building Bubbly Basin habitats efficiently

Building 36 habitats back to back without a plan is a good way to run out of key items at the worst moment. A few things worth knowing before you start:

  • Seabed Tall Grass is the most reused item in the set. Habitats 001, 002, and 008 all need it, so gather extra early.
  • Lush Seaweed appears in both habitat 005 and 006. If you're farming seaweed, grab enough for both at once.
  • Bottled Ship shows up in habitats 017, 021, and 032. It's one of the more specific items, so getting three of them early saves backtracking.
  • Lampion is needed for habitats 014, 019, and 027. Same logic applies.
  • The 3D printer at the Pokémon Center is your fallback for anything decorative, but it requires a photo reference from another player's game or a cloud island. Connect with other players early if you're going for a full clear.

If you want to know exactly which Pokémon live in which habitats across the whole island, the full Pokémon location guide has every spawn mapped out.

Pokopia is one of those games that rewards the players who plan their builds rather than just placing items randomly and hoping something spawns. With 36 habitats to work through and 50 Pokémon waiting to appear, Bubbly Basin gives you plenty to chase.
