How do you start the Fetching Scales for Feebas event?
When you load into the game during the event window, a notification will pop up saying "A Pokémon is the talk of the town." That's your cue. Head to any fully rebuilt Pokémon Center from the base game and you'll find Feebas waiting outside. Talk to it, and Feebas will ask you to collect Prism Shells before opening its shop inside the Pokémon Center.
Two important restrictions to keep in mind: Feebas does not appear at the Pokémon Center in Bubbly Basin, and it also won't show up on Cloud Islands. If you're currently playing in Bubbly Basin when the event launches, the game will prompt you to visit Withered Wasteland instead. Prism Scales are the only currency this event uses, and they're found exclusively on Dream Islands. Look for small blue shells with a pink tip scattered across the beaches and inside the caves of any Dream Island. They're not hidden, just spread around, so a thorough sweep of the island surface and cave interiors will net you a decent haul per trip.
After testing multiple islands, the Pikachu Doll Dream Island yields around 26 Prism Scales per visit. That's a solid baseline if you're working with the base game only.
Pokémon Pokopia Fetching Scales for Feebas Event Guide
If you own the Bubbly Basin Expansion Pass, the Starmie Doll Dream Island is significantly more efficient. Prism Scales appear in large clusters in the main underwater sections, with additional ones scattered on the surface and in underwater caves. For DLC owners, this is the island to prioritize.
You need 50 Prism Scales total to purchase every item required for both habitats, plus more if you want the Floating Lantern or extra duplicates. Plan on multiple island trips across the event window.

How do you build the Feebas and Milotic habitats?
Exciting Beach Habitat (for Feebas)
To build the Exciting Beach Habitat and keep Feebas in your town after the event ends, place these two items together:
- 1x Sand Bed (10 Prism Scales)
- 1x Big Swim Ring (10 Prism Scales)
Total cost: 20 Prism Scales
You'll automatically befriend Feebas just by talking to it at the Pokémon Center during the event, but building this habitat lets it stick around permanently. After the event, you can also move Feebas to Bubbly Basin if you have the DLC.
Marine Leisure Activities Habitat (for Milotic)
Milotic requires a larger setup. Place these three items together to build the Marine Leisure Activities Habitat:
- 1x Swim Ring (5 Prism Scales)
- 1x Cooler (10 Prism Scales)
- 1x Beach Volleyball Set (15 Prism Scales)
Total cost: 30 Prism Scales
Unlike Feebas, Milotic can be befriended both during and after the event ends, as long as you have the habitat items built. There's no time pressure on Milotic specifically, but you still need to purchase the items before August 28.
What Pokémon are featured in this event?
Feebas is the only Pokémon in the game that cannot be obtained outside of this event window. Milotic is more flexible since its habitat can be built after the event using items you collected during it.
