Traits are one of the most impactful systems in Anime Overload, and picking the right one for your unit can be the difference between clearing a wave effortlessly and struggling through it. With drop rates ranging from a jaw-dropping 0.1% all the way up to 24.6%, knowing which traits are worth chasing and which ones to swap out the moment something better drops is essential knowledge for any serious player.
What Is the Anime Overload Trait Tier List?
This tier list ranks every currently available trait in Anime Overload from S+ (the absolute meta picks) down to D tier (starter traits you should replace quickly). Rankings factor in three things: raw stat bonuses, acquisition difficulty relative to payoff, and how well each trait performs across different unit types. Note that some traits shine specifically on certain heroes, so unit context matters when making your final choice.

S+ Tier
Overloaded
Overloaded is the single best trait in Anime Overload right now, and the numbers back that up completely. It boosts damage by a massive 250%, increases range by 50%, cuts SPA by 15%, and reduces both upgrade and placement costs by 5%. The only real drawback is that equipping it restricts you to deploying just one unit.
That 0.1% drop rate makes it genuinely rare. Most players will go hundreds of spins without seeing it, so treat it as a long-term goal rather than something to grind for immediately.
S Tier
Voidborn
Voidborn sits just below Overloaded and is arguably the best all-around trait for players who want damage without the single-unit restriction. It delivers a 20% damage increase, 20% SPA reduction, a massive 60% range boost, and 20% increases to both crit chance and crit damage. That range increase alone makes it exceptional on long-range units.
Radiant
Radiant is a smart pick for players who run both DPS and farm units. It adapts its bonus based on unit type: 25% upgrade cost reduction for DPS units or a 35% earnings increase for farm units. On top of that, it adds 30% damage, 25% crit chance, and 15% crit damage. The 0.6% drop rate is still tough, but the flexibility makes it one of the most broadly useful traits in the game.
A Tier
Nullshot
Nullshot is one of the best pure crit traits available. It pushes crit chance up by 65% and crit damage up by 20%, plus adds a 7.5% range increase. The downside is a 10% base damage reduction, so it performs best on units that already have high crit scaling built into their kit.
Rift Edge
Rift Edge pairs exceptionally well with characters like Sokono (Domain) because of its crit-focused bonuses. It boosts crit damage by 60% and crit chance by 20%, while trimming SPA by 5%. The 10% damage reduction is the same caveat as Nullshot, so pair it with a unit that leans into crit mechanics.
Blind Rage
At a relatively accessible 3% drop chance, Blind Rage is one of the more realistic A tier targets. It gives 12.5% damage and 20% SPA reduction, making it a solid mid-game upgrade. The trade-off is a 10% reduction to both crit chance and crit damage, which matters less on units that don't rely on crits.
Grace
Grace is the premier XP and progression trait, offering a 65% XP gain increase, 50% more takedowns, and 40% crit chance. The catch is a significant 35% range reduction, which limits its combat viability. Use it during leveling phases, then consider swapping to a damage-focused trait once your units are fully developed.
B Tier
Thrift
Thrift earns its B tier placement almost entirely because of its farm unit bonus. For farm heroes, it increases earnings by 20%, which can meaningfully speed up your economy. For damage heroes, the 10% upgrade cost reduction is underwhelming. It's a fine placeholder but should be replaced with any A tier or higher trait when possible.
C Tier
Sharpshot has one trick: a 20% range increase. That's it. For a Legendary trait, that's a disappointing return. Wisdom offers decent XP bonuses but zero combat power, making it largely irrelevant in a game where damage output determines success. Brutality is the most accessible of the three at a 20.3% drop chance and gives a flat 10% damage boost, which at least has direct combat value.
D Tier
Extension
Extension is the most common trait in the game and provides a 12.5% range increase. It's not completely useless since percentage-based range scaling can help long-range heroes early on, but it has no other benefits and should be your first replacement target.
Surge
Surge reduces SPA by 12.5%, which is at least a combat-relevant stat. Still, it's the weakest trait in the game by most measures and should be swapped out as soon as you land anything from B tier or above.
How to Get Traits in Anime Overload
Getting traits requires visiting the Trait area in Anime Overload. Here's the process:
- Find the Teleport button on the left side of your screen.
- Select the Trait area from the menu.
- Approach the Mad Scientist NPC and interact with him.
- Use the gacha-style spin system to roll for traits.
Trait Spins can be obtained by redeeming free in-game codes or by purchasing them with Robux. Codes are the most cost-effective way to build up a spin reserve, so always check for active codes before spending Robux.
