Evade is one of the most mechanically demanding survival games on Roblox. A lobby of players drops onto a map, Nextbots (meme-faced hunters) pour in, and you have roughly three minutes to stay alive. Getting caught doesn't end your run outright, but it puts you at the mercy of your teammates. Master the movement, pick the right gear, and you go from constant victim to the person keeping everyone else alive.

Nextbots close the gap fast
What is Evade and how does it work?
Evade comes from Hexagon Development Community. Up to 50 players share a map with a group of Nextbots. Your only goal is to survive until the round timer hits zero. When a Nextbot catches you, you go down rather than getting eliminated, and another player can carry you to safety and revive you. Surviving rounds earns Tokens and XP, which you spend on perks, usables, emotes, and cosmetics. Higher levels unlock stronger gear and access to harder servers with better reward multipliers.
Which game mode should beginners start with?
The mode you pick matters more than any item in your loadout. Here is how the main public modes stack up:
| Mode | Lives | Round length | Reward multiplier | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Casual | Infinite | ~4 minutes | 0.8x | Best for learning; no revives |
| Default | Limited | ~3 minutes | 1x | Standard experience with full rewards |
| Social Space | N/A | No Nextbots | None | Safe practice environment |
| Big Team | Limited | ~3 minutes | 1x | Up to 50 players |
| Arena | One life | ~3 minutes | 1x | Eliminated on first down |
| Pro Servers | Limited | ~3 minutes | 1.1x | Requires level 50; Hard and Expert maps only |
Casual is the right starting point. Infinite lives mean getting caught only costs you a few seconds, and the longer rounds give you time to practice movement without constant pressure. The 0.8x reward cut is a fair trade for the learning time. Once you can survive most of a Casual round without going down repeatedly, switch to Default for full rewards.
Save Arena for when your movement is genuinely solid. One life per round is punishing, and dying early just wastes your time.
How do you run faster in Evade?
Your character's speed builds the longer you keep moving cleanly. Clipping a wall, stopping suddenly, or making a sharp turn all bleed momentum. Before you learn any tricks, get comfortable protecting that momentum: plan your path a few seconds ahead, take wide arcs around corners, and avoid running into props.
Once that becomes instinct, these techniques push your speed higher without spending a single Token.
Strafing
Strafing is the foundation. Hold W to reach full speed, then tap A and D alternately to weave side to side without releasing the forward key. It adds extra speed and makes you harder to track in a straight corridor.
Bunny hopping (bhop)
Bhopping chains strafing with repeated jumps. Because you spend most of your time in the air, ground friction barely touches your speed and you keep accelerating.
- Build to full speed with W.
- Press Spacebar the instant your feet touch the ground so each jump flows into the next.
- Strafe with A and D while airborne, swapping direction on every jump.
Timing the jump at ground contact is the hard part. Many players rebind jump to the mouse scroll wheel because scrolling makes that timing far easier to land consistently. Bhopping in loose circles around a building is one of the most reliable ways to kite a Nextbot for an entire round.
Emote dashing
Emote dashing is the high-speed movement trick experienced players rely on. You need a moving emote equipped first, such as Stride, from the Character menu.
- Run at full speed and press G to open the emote wheel.
- Select your moving emote.
- Immediately hold Ctrl and press Spacebar to slide jump.
- Hold A or D toward your intended direction.
- Jump again each time you land to keep the dash going.
The whole sequence takes well under a second. Expect failures before it clicks. Practice in Social Space in third person before trying it during a real chase.
How do you jump higher and reach rooftops in Evade?
Rooftops and elevated ledges are some of the safest positions on any map because many Nextbots struggle to follow you up. There are free methods and gear-based methods.
Super jumping off objects
Railings, ramps, fences, and cars can fling you upward when you clip them at high speed. Enable Shift Lock in the Roblox settings first so your character faces the same direction as your camera, then:
- Build maximum speed, ideally with a Cola or Speed Pad active.
- Approach the object at an angle and use A or D to line up the side of your character.
- Steer toward your landing spot while airborne.
Results vary with speed and angle, so treat this as a skill to develop rather than a reliable escape on day one.
Gear that gives you height
- Jump Pad (unlocks at level 30): A deployable that launches anyone who steps on it. Sliding across it with C sends you even higher. Place it along your escape route on flat ground.
- Spring Shoes (unlocks at level 60): A perk that grants a double jump, letting you clear gaps and reach ledges that are otherwise out of reach.
- Cola plus Speed Pad stacked: These two speed boosts combine, making object super jumps significantly easier to land.
How do you carry and revive teammates in Evade?
Every successful revive adds to your end-of-round payout and keeps more players alive to split the Nextbots' attention. Standing still next to a downed body is the fastest way to get caught yourself, so carry them out of danger first.
- Run to the downed player and press Q to pick them up.
- Move somewhere the Nextbots can't reach you.
- Press Q again to set them down.
- Hold E until the revive completes.
Note that you can't drink a Cola while carrying someone. Pop it before you pick them up if you need the speed boost.
Three items make rescues much safer as you level up:
- Stethoscope (perk, level 4): Cuts your revive time in half.
- Defibrillator (usable, level 10): Instantly revives one targeted downed player.
- Revive Grenade (usable, level 50): Revives every downed player in a small area after a short fuse.
How do you break down doors without stopping?
Opening a door with E while a Nextbot is right behind you is a death sentence. Bash through it instead:
- Sprint directly at the door.
- Just before contact, press C or Ctrl to slide.
- The slide into the door knocks it off its hinges and you keep running.
If the door holds, you weren't moving fast enough. Drinking a Cola right before the slide almost always fixes that.
What is the best loadout for beginners in Evade?
Since the Overhaul update, the shop splits your loadout into a light, one utility, one power, up to four usables, and two perks. Every slot has level requirements, so focus on what you can equip right now rather than saving for late-game gear.
Best usables for beginners
Usables are either consumables or deployables you place on the map. You can have three deployables active at once by default.
| Usable | Unlock level | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Cola | 0 | ~50% speed burst for 6 seconds. Your primary chase breaker. |
| Floodlight | 0 | Lights up a large area on dark maps and darkness rounds. |
| Barrier | 5 | Blocks Nextbots while players pass through. Useful during revives. |
| Beacon | 5 | Shows teammates through walls, making downed players easier to locate. |
| Landmine | 10 | Stuns any Nextbot that steps on it. Best placed in narrow corridors. |
| Speed Pad | 15 | Short speed boost for anyone who runs over it. Stacks with Cola. |
Best perks for beginners
You can run two perks at once. These are the strongest early picks:
- Stethoscope (level 4): Cheapest perk available and excellent if you plan to revive teammates often.
- Headphones (level 5): Lets you hear Nextbots from farther away, even around corners, so you can react before they appear on screen.
- Medkit (level 10): While downed, you crawl 20% faster and stay down 30 seconds longer, giving teammates more time to reach you.
- Stilts (level 20): Raises your top speed by 8%. Pair it with Hermes Shoes (level 30) for a strong solo escape combo, since Hermes boosts acceleration.
The Badge and Briefcase perks each add 10% XP and 10% Tokens at round end. They are worth equipping eventually, but only once you can survive rounds without relying on two survival perks.
Best utility for beginners
The Compass points toward objectives and the Timer shows remaining round time, which helps you decide when to play aggressively or conservatively. At level 5, the Radar becomes the strongest utility option because it pings faster as a Nextbot gets closer. That early warning is especially valuable on dark or maze-style maps.
How do you earn Tokens and XP fast in Evade?
Tokens buy gear, XP raises your level and unlocks new items, and Points cover daily shop cosmetics. The fastest ways to grow all three:
- Survive the full round. XP scales with how long you stay alive, and finishing without going down earns a Win bonus.
- Revive teammates. Every successful revive adds to your end-of-round payout.
- Complete Daily Missions. These pay out Tokens and Points on top of normal round rewards.
- Play Default over Casual once you are comfortable. Casual's 0.8x multiplier adds up to a meaningful loss over many rounds.
- Redeem active codes. Hexagon Development Community releases codes during updates and events.
Halloween 2026 event tips
The Halloween 2026 update went live on October 17 and runs until November 21. It also replaced the entire in-game interface, so the shop and menus look different from older screenshots.
- Wisps are the event currency. They spawn around the map in small (1 Wisp), medium (4 Wisps), and large (10 Wisps) pickups. Run through them to collect, then spend them on the eight-tier event battle pass.
- Spellbooks are free map pickups that grant roughly 10 seconds of extra speed, higher jumps, or invulnerability against Nextbots. Save them for tough chases rather than burning them the moment you find one.
- Quests and Vouchers: The new quest system rewards exotic cosmetics plus Vouchers you can spend on free revives.
- Free Wisps: Redeem the code HALLOWEEN2026 for 40 Wisps to get a head start on the battle pass.
Wisps only work on the event battle pass, so spend them all before November 21.
Essential survival tips that most beginners skip
- Stay near other players. A crowd splits Nextbot attention and keeps a teammate close enough to revive you.
- Use your whistle carefully. Pressing T can pull Nextbots away from a teammate, but it also reveals your position.
- Listen before you look. Nextbots make sounds as they approach, and your screen distorts when one is nearby. React to audio before you see them.
- Learn each map's layout. Knowing where the rooftops, loops, and chokepoints are matters more than any item you can buy.
- Watch out for fast Nextbots. Some Nextbots, like Angry Munci, move significantly faster than the standard ones and need specific counter-strategies.

Evade rewards players who put in the time to understand its movement system. The gap between someone who just runs in a straight line and someone who bhops and emote dashes is enormous, and that gap is pure skill rather than gear. Start in Casual, get comfortable with bhopping, equip Stethoscope and Headphones, and carry your first teammate to safety. From there, the Token grind takes care of itself.
