Fisch Guide: How to Wish for Limited Rods

The Skycrest update added one of the most requested features in Roblox Fisch: a way to reclaim vaulted limited rods you missed during past events. The system works through an NPC named Ryusel who sits on Skycrest Island and offers a wish mechanic similar to Santa's Letter. There is a catch though. Before Ryusel grants anything, you need to prove yourself by finishing five trials from a single Ancient Idol. Here is exactly how to do all of it.

How do you get to Skycrest Island?

Getting to Skycrest Island takes a few steps. Head to Moosewood and look for the large pink clam teleporter next to the leaderboard. This takes you to Fischfest 2 Island. Alternatively, if you have completed 50% of the Fischfest 2 Bestiary, you can use your Magic Conch to skip straight there.

Once on Fischfest 2 Island, speak with the Shipwright to grab a boat. From there, navigate toward the massive floating island with the vertical waterfall descending from it. Swim up through the waterfall to reach the top and enter Skycrest Island.

tip
The waterfall is easier to spot from a distance than up close. Back your boat away from the island and look up to get your bearings before swimming.

How do you find Ryusel and start the wish?

After surfacing on Skycrest Island, walk toward the left side of the island. You are looking for Ryusel, the NPC who handles the limited rod wish system. His GPS coordinates are (-26331, 3150, -4459) if you want to navigate precisely.

Speak with him and he will explain the requirement: complete all five trials offered by any single Ancient Idol on the island. There are seven Ancient Idols scattered across Skycrest: Hayate, Ebisu, Fudo, Nagomi, Goriki, Shunsoku, and Amanojaku. You only need to finish all five trials from one of them, not all seven.

What are the five Ancient Idol trials?

Below is a full breakdown of each trial and the fastest way to clear it. These are based on the Nagomi Ancient Idol, though the trial types are consistent across all seven idols.

Trial 1: Stand still for 60 seconds

The simplest trial in the set. Do not move your character or adjust your camera for a full 60 seconds. Put your controller down or step away from the keyboard once you have started it.

Trial 2: Interact with your pet 10 times

Equip any companion from your Satchel, stand in an open area, and press E to interact with it. Repeat 10 times. This takes under a minute and requires nothing beyond having a companion equipped.

Trial 3: Catch 20 common, uncommon, or unusual fish

Equip a mid-tier rod like the Rod of Depths, Fortune, or Fungal rod, then use Rapid Catcher Bait to speed through the count. The rarity threshold is low here, so practically any fishing spot works.

Trial 4: Catch 100 fish using a Crab Cage

This is the most time-consuming trial, but it is entirely passive once set up. Buy 100 Crab Cages from the Moosewood Merchant, deploy them along the Moosewood Dock coastline, then wait roughly 10 minutes before collecting everything. You do not need to stay nearby.

warning
Do not deploy all 100 Crab Cages in a single cluster. Spread them out along the dock to maximize the catch rate and avoid any placement issues.

Trial 5: Catch 1 Grandpa Horseshoe Crab using a Crab Cage

This is the hardest trial by a significant margin. The Grandpa Horseshoe Crab is a secret rarity fish found only at the Desolate Deep. You need a high-quality Crab Cage to have any realistic chance of catching it. The Relic Crab Cage (from Sunken Reliquary) or the Gold Crab Cage (from Tidefall Castle) are the recommended options.

Deploy your cage at the Desolate Deep using Golden Shrimp Bait, and make sure the following conditions are active:

After testing this trial across multiple attempts, the combination of a Relic Crab Cage with Golden Shrimp Bait in Clear weather during Spring gives the best results. Patience is the main factor here since the Grandpa Horseshoe Crab is rare by design.

Which rods can you wish for?

Once all five trials are complete, return to Ryusel and he will show you a list of vaulted limited rods that you do not currently own. The available selection varies per player based on what you already have. The full pool of rods that can appear includes:

  • Acidgrinder
  • Castbound
  • Cinderstring
  • Eardrum
  • Fallen Snowblade
  • Lullaby
  • MiguRod
  • Noiseform
  • Noctone
  • Part
  • Remembrance
  • Soulreaper
  • Steampunk Rod
  • Test Rod
  • Wingkeeper
  • Wingripper

The Astra Serenade is frequently highlighted as a top pick for its star-based effects that speed up fishing considerably, so if that is in your available pool, it is worth serious consideration.

Does wishing give you the rod immediately?

No. This is the part that catches most players off guard. Making your wish does not hand you the rod. It starts the associated quest for that rod. Because these are vaulted rods, each one has a quest tied to it that you still need to complete after wishing. Think of the wish as unlocking access to the quest rather than skipping it.

Choose carefully since you can only make one wish per visit to Ryusel, and the rod quest you unlock is the one you will need to work through.

If you enjoy the fishing side of Fisch, the Fisch Chapel location and rod skin quest guide covers another hidden system worth unlocking once you have your vaulted rod sorted. For players who want to compare rod options across other Roblox fishing games, the Fish It Roblox rod tier list breaks down every rod from Starter to Diamond with bait and enchant recommendations.
