STAR WARS: Galactic Racer packs 14 distinct Racer Styles into its Campaign progression system, and the one you pick at the start of a Tour shapes everything from the Parts you receive to how your build develops across the run. Some styles reward aggressive play, others punish you for touching your opponents, and a few require serious grind before they even show up in your selection screen. Here's the full breakdown of what each style does and exactly what you need to do to unlock it.
A Racer Style is a mandatory selection at the start of every Tour in Star Wars: Galactic Racer. Think of it as your build identity for that run. Each style comes with a specific focus, whether that's maximizing Ramjet usage, racking up Takedowns, or staying airborne as long as possible, and it directly influences which Parts get offered to you during the Tour.
In Campaign, styles unlock gradually as you hit specific milestones. In Online modes, your Racer Style is tied to the character you select, with some characters requiring you to reach certain in-game milestones before they become available.
Once you unlock a Racer Style in Campaign, it stays available for all future runs and also opens up dedicated single-player scenarios tied to that style.
The table below covers every style currently in the game, what each one is built around, and the specific requirement to unlock it.
| Racer Style | Focus | How to Unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Survivor | Defensive racing, minimal interference | Available from the start |
| Tenacious | Performance boost in risky situations | TBC |
| Redliner | High-risk Ramjet pushing | Use Ramjet |
| Brawler | Aggressive combat and Takedowns | Achieve Takedowns |
| Ramjet Rider | Extended Ramjet duration | Use Ramjet |
| Tech Expert | Full Ability exploitation | Activate Abilities |
| Afterburner | Afterburner-focused speed, no Ramjet reliance | Win 35 Tour events |
| Stunt Runner | Airborne time and Afterburner extension | Spend 240 seconds airborne |
| Engineer | Clearing negative status effects | Activate Abilities |
| Firebug | Short, explosive Ramjet bursts | Achieve Takedowns |
| Slipstreamer | Overtaking via opponent slipstreams | Win 40 Tour events |
| Ice Cold | Exploiting the Frozen status effect | Activate 160 Abilities |
| Clean Racer | Non-combative, avoidance-based racing | Win 60 Tour events |
| Weaponised | Full offensive loadout focus | Become the Galactic League champion |
Survivor is the obvious starting point. It's available immediately and built around staying out of trouble, which is exactly what you want while learning the tracks and Tour structure. There's no unlock requirement and no risky playstyle demanded of you.
Redliner and Ramjet Rider are both solid early unlocks for players who spend a lot of time in Ramjet naturally. They share the same unlock trigger (using Ramjet), so you'll likely open both without any deliberate grinding. The difference is that Redliner leans into the risk of pushing Ramjet hard, while Ramjet Rider is about control and sustaining it longer.
Tech Expert and Engineer both unlock through Ability activation, making them natural picks once you start building Ability-heavy Tours. Tech Expert pushes you to activate Abilities as often as possible, while Engineer rewards you specifically for clearing negative status effects, a more reactive playstyle that pays off when opponents are throwing debuffs at you constantly.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer Guide: All Racer Style & How to Unlock Them
The win-based unlocks scale up steeply. Afterburner needs 35 Tour event wins, Slipstreamer needs 40, and Clean Racer demands 60. These aren't handed out quickly, so prioritize them only if their playstyle genuinely appeals to you.
Ice Cold sits in its own category. Activating 160 Abilities is a specific number that will take multiple Campaign runs to hit, especially if you're not actively building around Ability activation. If you want Ice Cold, start stacking Ability-focused Parts early and consistently.
Weaponised is the final unlock and the most demanding. Becoming the Galactic League champion means completing the Campaign at its highest level. Everything else unlocks along the way, but this one is the finish line.
Online play handles styles differently from Campaign. Rather than choosing freely from your unlocked pool, the style is assigned based on which character you pick. Some characters are locked behind milestones, so your Online style options expand as you progress.
This means the grinding you do in Campaign has a direct effect on your Online roster. Unlocking more styles and reaching milestones opens up more character choices, giving you more flexibility in competitive play.

With 14 styles to unlock and a run-based Campaign that changes with every Tour, there's a lot to learn beyond just picking a style. The full Star Wars: Galactic Racer strategy guides collection covers Campaign mechanics, trophy hunting, and more as the game continues to build out post-launch.
