Valorant patch 13.08 lands at the start of V26 Act 6 and it's a meatier update than the version number suggests. Map Rating is the headline feature, Corrode gets its most significant layout changes since launch, and Ascent and Split are out of the Competitive rotation. Here's the short answer on what actually matters: if you play Competitive or Premier, every single one of these changes affects your ranked experience starting now.
What is the new Map Rating system in Valorant?
Map Rating gives every map in Competitive and Premier its own score from 0 to 500 and a letter grade from C to S. The grade pulls from four inputs: your overall win rate, your attacker-side win rate, your defender-side win rate, and your Performance Score. Recent matches carry more weight than older ones, so a bad stretch from two months ago won't drag you down forever.

Map Rating in Career tab
The rating is completely private. Nobody on your team or the enemy team can see your grades, which makes it a personal diagnostic tool rather than another number opponents can judge you by. You can check it in Agent Select before a match starts, on the End of Game screen, and in Career, which now has a new navigation bar linking directly to Map Rating, Rank Legacy, and Accolades.
One thing worth knowing up front: your match history before patch 13.08 counts for nothing here. Everyone starts from zero. That's a deliberate fresh-start design, not a bug.
How does Performance Score feed into Map Rating?
Performance Score is one of Map Rating's four inputs, so understanding what it actually measures matters. When Performance Score launched, it agreed with Average Combat Score on Match MVP selection about 70% of the time. Riot considered that acceptable given the extra factors it tracks, but identified edge cases where those non-kill factors were pulling too much weight.
The fixes for those edge cases went live in patch 13.06, not 13.08. Damage, adjusted kills, and adjusted deaths all got higher score impact in that earlier patch. Adjusted metrics count first bloods and first deaths. Chamber also received specific adjustments so his utility use registers properly in the scoring. The reason this matters now is that Map Rating launched with an already-tuned Performance Score feeding into it, rather than the original version.
What changed on Corrode in patch 13.08?
Corrode is back in the Competitive and Deathmatch rotation alongside these changes, and the rework touches three distinct areas. Riot spent more than a year watching matches on the map before making these calls.

Corrode Mid wall rework
Defender rotations on A and B sites
The biggest complaint about Corrode from a defender's perspective has always been rotation time. Getting from Defender Spawn to the back of A or B after losing the first fight took long enough that retakes were often impossible before attackers established post-plant control. Riot has shortened those paths into the back of both sites. No specific time measurements are given, but the intent is clear: defenders should be able to contest retakes more realistically.
Mid changes
Mid gets the most structural work. The old setup funnelled attackers through a single choke into Lower Mid while defenders could spam through the half wall to slow them down. That made fights messy and hard to read for both sides.
Three changes address this:
- The Mid half wall is now metal and has moved one meter further out, cutting down wall penetration spam.
- The new wall position lets attackers enter A Link without being visible from Top Mid.
- The boxes at the back of Lower Mid have shifted toward B and gained a jump-up, and the Lower Mid wall is now taller to prevent players from peeking over the relocated boxes.
A Site plant zone
The plant zone on A Site has been adjusted to reduce how effective post-plant play from A Link is. Combined with the Mid changes that let attackers reach A Link without being spotted from Top Mid, this creates an interesting tension: A Link is now easier to access as a route onto site, but harder to abuse as a defensive post-plant position once the Spike is down.

What is the new Competitive map rotation in patch 13.08?
The map pool swap is straightforward:
| Status | Maps |
|---|---|
| Entering rotation | Bind, Corrode |
| Leaving rotation | Ascent, Split |
The change applies to both Competitive and Deathmatch. Ascent and Split are out of both queues. Map Rating only covers Competitive and Premier, so you won't build a Map Rating for Ascent or Split while they're sitting outside the rotation.
How many accounts did Riot ban in Act 5?
Riot published enforcement numbers from Act 5's detection period, which ran from August 18 to October 1. These cover accounts fully banned for three days or longer.
| Reason | Accounts banned |
|---|---|
| AFK and gameplay abuse | 288,000+ |
| Cheating | 171,000+ |
| Rank manipulation | 76,000+ |
| Toxicity or comms abuse | 74,000+ |
| Botting | 54,000+ |
| Streamsniping or instalocking tools | 14,000+ |
The AFK and gameplay abuse category is the largest by a significant margin, outnumbering cheating bans by more than 100,000. Rank manipulation covers boosters, boostees, hitchhikers, and wintraders. The total across all six categories exceeds 677,000 bans. Riot says it will continue sharing these figures going forward and asks players to keep filing in-game reports, since those reports directly feed its detection tools.
Other changes and known issues in patch 13.08
Killjoy: Alarmbot's destruction visual effects and audio now trigger correctly when a moving doorway destroys the projectile. Previously this was silent, which removed useful information about what killed the bot.
Warden: The scope reticle no longer misaligns during full-auto fire.
Audio fixes: Alternate footstep sounds and bodyfall audio now play correctly for agents in Fog of War. Gun bounce audio also triggers as expected.
Queue and Mode Select: A new interface has been added for matchmade and custom game types.

New queue selection interface
Two known issues remain open at launch. Team MVP is not displaying correctly in Match History (a visual bug, not a data issue). Range in Queue, which lets you use the Practice Range while waiting for a match, has been disabled after it left some players stuck in a bugged queue state. No reactivation date has been confirmed.
