Witchspire Farming Guide: Plots, Seeds & Crops

Witchspire has a farming system that looks optional right up until the moment you realize half the food and healing recipes you actually want need ingredients you can't reliably find anywhere else. The good news is that once it's running, the whole thing is nearly self-sustaining. This guide walks you through unlocking your first plot, finding seeds, and keeping a steady crop cycle going without buying replacements every few runs.

How do you unlock farming in Witchspire?

Farming is tied to the Luminaries system, which sits at the top of your map. The Farming Plots option lives on the right side of that interface, and it won't appear as available from the start. Before you can place your first plot, two things need to happen: your Hearth must reach level 2, and you need to progress far enough along the Luminaries path to unlock the Small Farming Plot node.

That Hearth upgrade requirement catches a lot of players off guard. If the farming option looks greyed out, check your Hearth level first before assuming you've missed something. Once both conditions are met, the Small Farming Plot becomes accessible and you can start building.

Where do you get seeds in Witchspire?

All seeds come from Mirella's Shop, located on the starter island in the top-left area of the map. She's positioned close to the beach and ocean. The easiest landmark to use: she sits directly west of the Flight Pillar, so if you know where that is, Mirella is a short walk in that direction.

Her shop stocks four seed types:

All seeds are purchased with Coins, so stock up on currency before you plan a big garden expansion. Prioritize whichever crops match the food and healing recipes you're currently trying to craft.

How does the farming loop work?

Once you have a plot placed and seeds in your inventory, the process is straightforward. Open your Build menu by pressing B, place the farming plot on your base, then interact with it directly to select which seeds to plant. There's no watering mechanic or daily upkeep required. You plant, wait for the growth timer to complete, and harvest.

The part that makes farming genuinely worth building early: harvested plants don't disappear. After you collect the crop, the plant resets to its initial growth stage and begins the cycle again automatically. That means a single batch of seeds, once planted, keeps producing indefinitely. You're not restocking from Mirella every time you want more carrots.

After testing a full crop rotation across all four seed types, the loop holds up consistently. Plant everything you can afford early, let it run in the background while you're out exploring, and come back to a full harvest.

Farming setup checklist

Here's the exact order to follow so nothing blocks your progress:

  1. Upgrade your Hearth to level 2
  2. Open Luminaries from the top of your map
  3. Navigate to the right side of the interface and unlock Small Farming Plot
  4. Press B to open the Build menu and place your plot
  5. Travel to the starter island and find Mirella's Shop west of the Flight Pillar
  6. Buy seeds with Coins (Wheat, Carrot, Chili, and Sweetfruit are all available)
  7. Interact with your placed farming plot and select seeds to plant
  8. Harvest when crops are fully grown; plants reset and restart automatically
