The Weapon Locker in Call of Duty: Black Ops II Zombies is one of the most underused mechanics in the entire mode. Store a weapon in one map, pull it out in a completely different one, and never lose a hard-earned Pack-a-Punch upgrade to a bad round again. Three maps support it, each hiding their locker in a specific spot, and knowing where to look saves you real time.
How does the Weapon Locker work in Black Ops 2 Zombies?
The Gun Storage Locker lets you deposit a weapon and retrieve it later, either in the same session or in a completely new game. The stored weapon persists across TranZit, Die Rise, and Buried, so you can drop a powered-up gun on one map and pick it up fresh on another.

A few rules govern how it works:
- Pack-a-Punch weapons can be stored, so your upgraded guns survive between sessions.
- You cannot store the M1911, the Ballistic Knife, or any Wonder Weapon.
- Picking up a weapon from the locker replaces whichever gun you are currently holding.
- You cannot hold two copies of the same weapon, so the locker will not let you duplicate.
- The ammo loaded into the gun when you store it is exactly what comes out when you retrieve it.
What happens when a weapon is not available on the destination map?
Some guns are map-exclusive, which means the locker substitutes a comparable weapon if the stored gun does not exist on the map you are retrieving from. Here is exactly what gets swapped:
Where is the Weapon Locker in TranZit?
The TranZit Gun Locker sits inside the Farm location. Ride the bus from the Bus Depot through the Diner stop and get off at Farm. Head into the farmhouse on the right side of the property. Inside, look for a fridge positioned against the wall near a bloodied handprint. That fridge is your Gun Locker.

Where is the Weapon Locker in Die Rise?
The Die Rise Gun Locker is near the Power Room. After activating the power, move to the rooms on the left side of that area, which contain showers. Take another left from the shower rooms and look through the rubble for a blue fridge. That is the Die Rise locker.
The Die Rise locker is easy to miss on your first visit because the rubble obscures it. If you have already unlocked the power and cleared the area, scan left from the showers and you will spot it quickly.
For players looking to maximize their multiplayer performance alongside Zombies runs, the Black Ops 2 weapon tier list breaks down every gun by class so you know which weapons are worth storing in the first place.
Where is the Weapon Locker in Buried?
The Buried Gun Locker is inside the General Store. The General Store sits directly opposite the Sheriff's House, which is the building you use to free Arthur. Walk through the front door of the General Store and check behind the counter on the left side. The locker is there.
Buried also introduces the most map-exclusive weapons of the three maps, so the substitution table above is especially relevant here. Storing a Remington New Model Army or an LSAT means you will get a different gun back when you retrieve from TranZit or Die Rise.
If you are managing points between Zombies sessions, the Black Ops II Zombies bank guide covers how to deposit and withdraw points so you can fund your next run without starting from scratch.
What can you NOT store in the Weapon Locker?
Three weapon categories are blocked from the locker entirely:
- M1911 (the default starting pistol)
- Ballistic Knife
- Any Wonder Weapon (Jet Gun, Sliquifier, and similar buildables)
This restriction means the locker is built around conventional weapons, not the map-specific special weapons. Pack-a-Punching a standard assault rifle or SMG and banking it is the intended use case.
