Black Ops 7 meta guns and best loadouts | PC Gamer

The MP7 has always been one of the standout SMGs in Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and the PS4 and PS5 ports have brought a fresh wave of players back to discover exactly why. It fires fast, handles well at close range, and does not need a mountain of attachments to perform. This guide breaks down the best class setup for the MP7, covering attachments, perks, and wildcards so you can run a stealth-oriented build that stays off the radar and keeps the pressure on.

What attachments should you run on the MP7?

The MP7 does not need much help to shine, and this build keeps things tight with just two attachments.

  • Suppressor: Keeps you off the minimap while firing. For a stealth build, this is non-negotiable. Enemies relying on radar to track movement will have a much harder time locating you.
  • Fast Mag: Speeds up your reload time. The MP7 burns through ammo quickly in close-quarters engagements, so getting back into the fight faster after a multi-kill is a real advantage.

Some players consider adding Long Barrel to extend effective range, which is a reasonable choice if you find yourself pushing slightly longer sightlines. Quick Draw, on the other hand, is a skip here. The MP7's aim-down-sight speed is already fast by default, so that attachment slot is better spent elsewhere or left empty to free up points for perks.

tip
Keeping the attachment count low frees up your Pick 10 points for the perk-heavy setup this build relies on. Two attachments is the sweet spot.

What are the best perks for the MP7 build?

This is where the class gets interesting. The MP7 is strong enough with minimal attachments that you can afford to go perk-heavy, and this build takes full advantage of that.

Perk 1 Ghost and Hardline setup

Perk 1 Ghost and Hardline setup

Perk 1: Hardline and Ghost

Ghost keeps you hidden from enemy UAVs while moving, which pairs perfectly with the Suppressor. You stay invisible on the radar whether you're firing or sprinting. Hardline reduces the score required to earn Scorestreaks, meaning you hit your rewards faster without needing to chain massive killstreaks.

Perk 2: Scavenger

The MP7 has a high fire rate, and you will run dry faster than you expect in aggressive close-range play. Scavenger lets you resupply ammo from fallen enemies, keeping you in the fight without needing to retreat or rely on care packages for bullets.

Perk 3: Awareness and Dead Silence

Dead Silence silences your footsteps, completing the stealth picture alongside Ghost and the Suppressor. Awareness amplifies enemy audio, so you can hear opponents moving nearby before they round a corner. Together, these two perks give you a significant information advantage in tight map areas.

important
Running two Perk 3 options requires the Perk 3 Greed Wildcard. Make sure you account for this in your Pick 10 allocation.

How do the wildcards work for this class?

To fit Ghost and Hardline simultaneously in the Perk 1 slot, you need the Perk 1 Greed Wildcard. To run both Awareness and Dead Silence in Perk 3, you need Perk 3 Greed. That accounts for both Wildcard slots.

The trade-off is that you run no Secondary weapon, no Lethal equipment, and no Tactical equipment. The MP7 is your only tool, so confidence in close-range engagements is a must.

warning
Dropping the Secondary weapon means you have no fallback if you run out of ammo in a chaotic situation. Scavenger helps, but stay aware of your magazine count during extended fights.

Is this build worth running over other SMGs?

The MP7 sits at the top of the SMG category in Black Ops 2 right now. It handles close-range engagements better than most alternatives, and the fact that it performs well with only two attachments is a major strength in a Pick 10 system where every point counts. The SCAR-H is dominating the overall weapon meta at the moment, but for players who prefer faster movement and hip-fire aggression, the MP7 is the answer.

Perks are flexible across any build. If Toughness matters more to you than Hardline in a given match, swap it in. The core of this class is the Suppressor and the stealth perk stack, so as long as those stay intact, the rest can shift to suit your playstyle.

tip
Black Ops 2's Pick 10 system means every empty slot, like skipping a Secondary or grenades, gives you points to spend elsewhere. This build leans into that flexibility hard.

For more strategies across every weapon class in the game, the Call of Duty: Black Ops II strategy guides cover everything from assault rifles to sniper builds. Black Ops 2 is one of the most mechanically tight shooter games ever made, and mastering the Pick 10 system is what separates average players from the ones consistently topping the scoreboard. The MP7 build above is a strong starting point.
