Deltarune Chapter 5 - Walkthrough Hub ...

Orange and Green are one of the strangest boss encounters in DELTARUNE Chapter 5, and not just because of the color-coded names. The fight sits inside the Flower Castle and catches a lot of players off guard because the usual strategy of hammering away at enemy HP simply does not work here. Green can restore the entire team to max health, which makes raw damage completely pointless. The real solution requires understanding why the fight is happening at all.

Who are Orange and Green?

Before the fight kicks off, you get a brief look at both characters. Orange is simply hungry, and Green is the calm, collected type who runs the cafés around the castle. The moment Green feeds Orange, something shifts. Orange transforms into a far more aggressive form and the battle begins. Knowing this backstory matters because the entire solution to the fight is rooted in it.

Why can't you just fight them normally?

Green's healing ability is the wall that stops conventional combat cold. Every turn Green is active, the duo's health resets to full. Spending turns on attacks wastes your TP and leaves you exposed to Orange's increasingly dangerous moves. The fight is designed to force a different approach entirely.

How to win the Orange and Green boss fight

Step 1: Stop attacking and build TP

The first thing to do when the fight starts is ignore the attack option completely. Use Ralsei and Susie to build your team's TP rather than dealing damage. TP is what powers the key move you need, so going into the fight with a full bar gives you the best position.

Step 2: Use Kris's GetAlong Act

Once you have enough TP, trigger Kris's GetAlong Act. This is the core mechanic of the entire encounter. When you perform GetAlong, Susie offers food items to Orange. Because Orange is hungry, he accepts them. He does not immediately stop fighting, but each use of GetAlong chips away at his aggression and shifts the mood of the battle.

Keep repeating GetAlong whenever your TP allows it. Do not waste turns on anything else.

Step 3: Block the healing orbs

During the fight, Green launches healing orbs toward Orange. If those orbs reach him, Orange gains the strength to unleash a special attack. Your job is to intercept the orbs before they connect. The good news is that absorbing them heals your party, so blocking the orbs is a double benefit: you deny Orange his power boost and patch up any damage your team has taken.

Step 4: Wait for Green's approach

After enough rounds of GetAlong and orb interception, Green will approach your party seeking friendship. This is the turning point. Seeing Green extend an olive branch, Orange agrees to stand down. The fight ends without anyone being defeated in the traditional sense.

Is this fight similar to any other Chapter 5 boss?

The Orange and Green encounter follows the same design philosophy as the Yellow and Blue trial battles in Chapter 5. Both fights require you to abandon the standard damage-dealing mindset and solve a puzzle layered inside the battle system. After testing both encounters, the Orange and Green fight feels slightly more forgiving because the GetAlong loop is consistent once you understand it, while Yellow and Blue demands specific knowledge about evidence and culprits.

What happens after you win?

Once Orange stands down, the story continues through the Flower Castle. The resolution is peaceful rather than violent, which fits the broader tone Toby Fox has built across the series. If you are still working through the castle's other secrets, there are hidden collectibles and puzzles scattered throughout the area.
