The vine wall in DELTARUNE Chapter 5 stops a lot of players cold. The Mysterious Structures are right there, clearly meant to do something, but nothing happens when you interact with them. The fix isn't obvious: you need to track down a boss named Aqua, defeat her, and collect the Petal Feather she drops before any of those structures will respond. What do the Mysterious Structures actually do?
The Mysterious Structures are statues scattered through the Dark World section of Chapter 5. Once you activate the power of a structure using the Petal Feather, the terrain around it shifts. Vines that previously blocked your path transform into leaf platforms, turning the area into a short 2D platformer sequence. You jump from leaf to leaf to reach the top and push forward in the chapter.
Before you have the feather, interacting with any structure does nothing. That's why the vine room feels like a dead end on a first visit.

How to find Aqua in Deltarune Chapter 5
Aqua is tucked away in a hidden cave, and the route to her involves a watering can puzzle that many players walk right past.
Step 1: Head left from the Exit sign to the diner
From the Exit sign in the Dark World, go left. You'll reach a diner. Take the door in the middle of the diner and follow the path inside.
Step 2: Take the right fork
The path splits into two directions. Take the right branch. Keep going and you'll spot a watering can sitting on the ground.
Step 3: Use the watering can to reveal hidden paths
Pick up the watering can and use it on the area around you. This reveals as many hidden paths as possible. Work through them until you find a rock structure near one of the torii gates. Using the watering can here opens a gap in the rocks, but you'll lose the can in the process.
Step 4: Enter the cave and fight Aqua
Go through the opening in the rock structure. The path from here is linear, so just follow it to reach Aqua. Defeat her in battle to proceed.

How to get the Petal Feather after defeating Aqua
Once Aqua is down, follow the single path that continues beyond the fight. There are no branches here, so you can't get lost. At the end of that path you'll find the Petal Feather. Pick it up.
This item is what lets you activate the power of the Mysterious Structures. With the Petal Feather in hand, the structures become interactive and will reshape the terrain when triggered.
How to activate the power of the Mysterious Structure and climb the vines
With the Petal Feather collected, head back to the Exit sign and go right this time. You'll find a Mysterious Structure waiting there. Interact with it to activate the power.
Once activated, move into the room on the left. The vines that blocked you before are now gone, replaced by leaf platforms. Jump across the leaves, working your way up to the top of the room. The platforming here is straightforward: just keep jumping upward from leaf to leaf until you clear the room and can continue your journey.
After testing this route multiple times, the most common point of confusion is step 5. Players often use the watering can too early on the path and miss the specific rock structure near the torii gate. If the cave opening hasn't appeared, backtrack and look for that gate.
