With the Monument of Triumph update for Destiny 2, Solar has proven to be a powerful element thanks to its healing capabilities. Solar Titans combine this with high melee damage for a build that can succeed in content at any level, even when playing solo. Thanks to the Throwing Hammer Melee Ability and Melas Panoplia Gauntlets, Titans can benefit from melee and Solar synergies even when fighting at a distance. This guide focuses on high ability damage and restoration.
Solar Titan at a Glance
- Exotic Weapon: Devil's Ruin
- Exotic Armor: Melas Panoplia
- Key Aspect: Roaring Flames
- Gameplay Loop: Safely use Throwing Hammer from any distance to generate Sunspots and deal high melee damage.
Best Weapons

Devil's Ruin is the Exotic weapon of choice due to its ability to create Firesprites. These elemental pickups enable the ability of the Melas Panoplia gauntlets, so generating them as often as possible is essential. Devil's Ruin creates Firesprites on final blows, and picking one up enables the weapon's secondary fire option. Holding the reload button causes its next shot to expel a Solar laser that scorches its target and ignites it when defeated , useful for dealing high damage to a single enemy. Use Devil's Ruin to generate Firesprites and unleash its laser for high burst damage when the situation calls for it.

Micro-Missile Frame Grenade Launchers are useful for dealing with combatants at long range. This benefit, combined with artifact mod synergy, makes one of the two Micro-Missile Grenade Launchers available in the Kinetic slot a strong choice. Gizmo Weft, a Strand option, can be found in the Tenet of Bravery at the Tower. The Mountaintop, a Kinetic Grenade Launcher, drops from the Onslaught activity.
For the Heavy slot, Solar Rocket Launchers are the best option for damage thanks to the Argent Ordinance artifact mod, which grants increased damage to Rocket Launchers by consuming Armor Charge. The best options available during Monument of Triumph include Ascendancy from Solo Ops, Roar of the Bear from Iron Banner, and Hezen Vengeance from the Vault of Glass.
Best Armor

The Melas Panoplia Gauntlets are key to making Throwing Hammer versatile and effective. Collecting Firesprites and rapid Solar final blows grant the Forgemaster buff. The next time Throwing Hammer is used, the buff begins its ten-second timer. During this window, pressing the Melee button after the Hammer makes contact causes it to return, refunding its energy. Recalling the Throwing Hammer after hitting an enemy at the right moment triggers a Perfect Recall, damaging nearby enemies with forge slag. Perfect Recalls and collecting Firesprites extend the Forgemaster buff. Use Devil's Ruin to generate a Firesprite, collect it to gain Forgemaster, and chain Throwing Hammer hits and Perfect Recalls for an effectively infinite loop.

Devil's Ruin's high rate of fire and small magazine can make it inefficient at times, so two armor sets are used for bonuses that increase its reload speed. The first is the Lustrous Set from the Tenet of Bravery. Receiving healing grants Solar weapons flinch resistance, handling, and reload speed buffs. Thanks to subclass abilities, Aspects, and Fragments, Sunbreaker Titans have consistent access to healing through cure and restoration effects, meaning these bonuses will be active reliably.

The second set bonus comes from the Dark Age Set from the Warlord's Ruin dungeon. Hitting combatants with Throwing Hammer grants stacks of Initiative. Each stack boosts weapon handling and reload speed, and stacks decay over time. Because Throwing Hammer will be constantly available, Initiative will remain at maximum stacks throughout any combat encounter.
The only stat that matters for this build is the Melee stat, which should be as high as possible. With a Melee stat at 100 or above, picking up a Throwing Hammer off the ground will fully refund the ability energy. In the rare case that Forgemaster is not active, the ability will still function at a lower capacity. Raising the Melee stat to 100 also increases Throwing Hammer's damage, making it capable of very high single-target damage when set up correctly.

Armor Mods
Equip as many three-cost Melee stat mods as possible. The remaining mods focus on Melee synergies, Orbs of Power, and Solar weapons.
Best Subclass Loadout

Abilities
Hammer of Sol is the best Super choice here, as it is improved by one of the Aspects in this loadout. Rallying Barricade boosts reload speed and provides protection when needed. Use Throwing Hammer as the Melee Ability, since Melas Panoplia's Exotic perk revolves around it. For the Grenade, use Fusion Grenade or Solar Grenade for an additional Solar damage option.
Aspects
Roaring Flames allows Throwing Hammer to operate at maximum capacity. Solar ability final blows and ignitions trigger this buff, increasing the damage of Solar abilities. Roaring Flames stacks up to three times.
Sol Invictus complements Roaring Flames by creating Sunspots from Solar ability final blows, Hammer of Sol impacts, and defeating scorched targets. Standing in a Sunspot regenerates abilities faster, drains Super energy more slowly, and heals by applying restoration. Enemies who enter Sunspots are scorched and dealt damage. Together, these two Aspects transform Throwing Hammer from a generic Melee Ability into a high-burst support tool.
Fragments
Ember of Mercy and Ember of Torches provide ways to gain restoration and radiant. Ember of Solace and Ember of Empyrean improve the uptimes for both buffs.
Best Artifact and Loadout

Use the Queensfoil Censer artifact for its ability and Solar synergies, as well as its mods for Grenade and Rocket Launchers.
Ability Synergies
- Armorsmith: Breaking a combatant's shield temporarily grants damage resistance and increased melee damage.
- Wished Into Being: When the Super ability is almost fully charged, ability final blows spawn Orbs of Power.
Solar Synergies
- Fever and Chill: Rapid precision hits with Solar weapons grant radiant.
- Kindling Trigger: Radiant causes Solar weapons to apply scorch to unscorched enemies.
- Rays of Precision: While radiant, Solar weapon final blows cause combatants to ignite.
Rocket and Grenade Launcher Synergies
- Blast Radius: Rapid final blows with Rocket and Grenade Launchers grant Armor Charge.
- Argent Ordinance: Firing a Rocket Launcher consumes a stack of Armor Charge, granting increased damage and reload speed until reloading or stowing the equipped Rocket Launcher.
Those who are worthy will wield the power of the Sunbreaker. Launch Throwing Hammers and call them back to deal massive damage and scatter Sunspots across the battlefield.
