How To Farm High-Star Armor - Destiny 2

The Destiny 2: Monument of Triumph update introduced a new armor set obtainable from Vanguard Ops activities called the Luminopotent set. The Luminopotent armor stands out for its set bonuses, which synergize with the Arc element. This guide covers how to get Luminopotent Armor and the best methods for farming high-tier pieces.

What Does Luminopotent Armor Do?

The Luminopotent Armor ties into Arc buffs and debuffs, as well as certain weapon types. Its set bonuses create a gameplay loop centered on defeating electrified enemies to charge battery-powered weapons.

  • 2-Piece Set Bonus , Ionic Overclock: While amplified, Fusion Rifles, Linear Fusion Rifles, and Heat weapons gain increased handling, reload, and vent speeds.
  • 4-Piece Set Bonus , Shock and Clear: Final blows with Jolt or against jolted combatants create Ionic Traces.

Where to Farm Luminopotent Armor

Luminopotent Armor is accessible to players of all skill levels. The set is associated with the Vanguard and is tied to completing Vanguard activities, as well as interacting with Zavala in the Tower.

Solo and Fireteam Ops Playlists

Luminopotent armor can drop from the Solo Ops and Fireteam Ops playlists found in the Vanguard Ops section of the Director. All armor pieces have a chance to drop from activity completions at any difficulty level.

Certain Ops activities will feature a Luminopotent armor piece as a Bonus Focus reward. This reward is guaranteed if that specific activity is completed with a grade of B or higher. Vanguard Ops activities are graded based on difficulty level and completion time.

tip
Complete Solo and Fireteam Ops at higher difficulties to earn armor from Bonus Focus, and tackle Grandmaster difficulty or above for Tier 5 drops.

Weekly Vanguard Arms Rewards

The Portal, found in the Director, contains a weekly rewards pass. Completing daily and weekly missions grants experience toward this pass, which includes two armor keys for the Weekly Vanguard Arms Rewards. Once earned, these keys can be used to acquire Tier 5 Luminopotent Armor pieces from Zavala.

These pieces roll a stat archetype at the start of each week and retain that roll until the next weekly reset. Use this method when hunting for armor pieces with specific stat distributions.

Vanguard Armor Focusing

The third method for earning Luminopotent armor is by focusing it with Zavala in the Tower. Playing Vanguard Ops activities earns reputation toward Vanguard Engrams, which can then be exchanged for weapons and armor with Zavala. All Vanguard armor sets from Destiny 2's lifecycle are available here, including the Luminopotent set.

Earning Vanguard Engrams through reputation takes time, but spending them on armor guarantees the desired piece will drop.

Luminopotent Armor Builds

The Luminopotent set is focused in its buildcrafting potential, but that focus makes it genuinely powerful. Here are the most effective build types for its set bonuses.

Arc Builds

Shock and Clear is a strong set bonus for any Arc-focused build. It generates Ionic Traces whenever a jolted enemy is defeated or an enemy is killed with Jolt. Ionic Traces seek out the player and restore ability energy when collected, effectively turning Jolt from weapons and abilities into free ability energy to fuel whatever gameplay loop the build is built around.

This armor set also makes use of the Ionic Overclock bonus to benefit Fusion Rifles within an Arc build.

Fusion Rifle Builds

The Monument of Triumph update has provided significant support for Fusion Rifles and Linear Fusion Rifles. Between the introduction of the new Exotic Linear Fusion Rifle Fafnir, the introduction of the One Thousand Voices catalyst, and the return of Particle Reconstruction, weapons in the Fusion Rifle archetype are exceptionally strong.

Any build incorporating a Fusion Rifle benefits from including two pieces of the Luminopotent set, provided the player has a reliable way to become amplified. Players can include all four pieces for deeper Arc synergies, or pair two Luminopotent pieces with two pieces of another set to stack a second two-piece bonus.

The Luminopotent armor set is one of the most popular in Monument of Triumph and serves as a powerful component of many endgame builds. It is an effective tool for succeeding in Destiny 2's hardest content, and straightforward to obtain once you know where to look.
