Destiny 2 Mint Retrograde: God Rolls & How to get it

Find Destiny 2's best Special Weapon.

Destiny 2 introduced Rocket Frame Pulse Rifles with the Edge of Fate expansion, and they proved to be incredibly effective weapons in all levels of PvE activities. Mint Retrograde is the best Rocket Frame Pulse Rifle, with a large pool of good perks that suit different playstyles. With the Monument of Triumph update, Mint Retrograde has returned to the loot pool. Here, find how to get Mint Retrograde god rolls, the best Special Weapon for PvE.

Best Mint Retrograde PvE God Rolls

Mint Retrograde wants Launcher Barrel and Magazine options that increase projectile speed, magazine size, and reload speed. This allows the weapon to deal high damage in short periods.

Best PvE Launcher Barrels

  • Hard Launch
  • Quick Launch
  • Smart Drift Control

Best PvE Magazines

  • Appended Mag
  • Extended Mag
  • Flared Magwell

Mint Retrograde god rolls use perks in the third and fourth columns to keep ammo in the magazine and deal as much damage as possible.

Recommended PvE Perk Combinations

Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch (Best PvE God Roll)

Envious Arsenal reloads Mint Retrograde when dealing damage with the other two weapons. Bait and Switch is a damage buff that activates after dealing damage with all three equipped weapons. Including this roll in a damage rotation that swaps between weapons ensures it is always reloaded while dealing maximum damage.

Rewind Rounds and Frenzy

This is a fire-and-forget perk combination that requires little management. Rewind Rounds returns ammo to the magazine depending on how many times enemies are hit. Frenzy grants an increase to damage, handling, and reload speed when in combat. Frenzy will almost always be active when using the weapon, and Rewind Rounds will keep ammo in the magazine without actively reloading. This allows players to deal good damage over any amount of time without too much effort.

Beacon Rounds and Chain Reaction

With Beacon Rounds, final blows grant projectile tracking and weapon reload speed, and this buff is extended whenever damage is dealt. Chain Reaction causes elemental damage explosions with final blows. These perks make clearing large groups of enemies easy with fast reload speed and lots of explosions.

Is Mint Retrograde Worth Farming for PvP?

Mint Retrograde is not a weapon meant for PvP. In the Crucible, Special Ammo is a valuable resource that is rarely given out. Special weapons need to make up for this by killing enemies in one or two shots , something other classes of Special weapons do well, but Rocket Frame Pulse Rifles do not. Mint Retrograde has a long Time-to-Kill for a Special weapon, and the ammo investment is not worth it.

warning
Avoid investing heavily in a PvP roll for Mint Retrograde. Its long Time-to-Kill and Special Ammo cost make it a poor choice in the Crucible compared to other Special weapon archetypes.

Where to Get Mint Retrograde

Mint Retrograde is an easy weapon to farm. It drops from Pinnacle Ops activities, which come in different types suited to different kinds of players. Here are the best ways to acquire the weapon while grinding Pinnacle Ops:

  1. Attune the weapon. Attuning Mint Retrograde in the inventory gives it a higher chance of dropping from enemies and activity completions.
  2. Play Onslaught and Crawls. These activities are longer but have matchmaking, making it easy to find teammates. They also feature mid-activity drops, which are extra chances for Mint Retrograde to appear.
  3. Check the Bonus Focus. Three Pinnacle Ops activities will have a Bonus Focus drop available, meaning the featured piece of gear is more likely to drop. Farm an activity when Mint Retrograde is the Bonus Focus for a higher chance of receiving one.
  4. Purchase from Zavala. Zavala sells weapons that drop from Vanguard Ops playlists, including Mint Retrograde. Use Vanguard Engrams at Zavala to purchase Mint Retrograde and guarantee a drop.
tip
Combining Attuning the weapon with farming during its Bonus Focus window gives you the highest possible drop rate for Mint Retrograde.

That covers Mint Retrograde god rolls and how to get them. It is an excellent weapon across all levels of PvE content. For another strong weapon, check out our guide for how to get Kindled Orchid god rolls.
