Sparking! ZERO — CHARACTER SELECT SCREEN CONCEPT : r/SparkingZero

Dragon Ball Sparking Zero launched with a massive roster and tight combat, but the PC modding community has spent the time since release pushing the game well beyond its base limits. New character transformations, performance fixes, expanded stage selection, and some genuinely unhinged crossover replacements have all made their way into the game. Here's a breakdown of the mods worth your time, organized by what they actually do.

What do you need before installing any mods?

Before anything else, two mods function as the foundation for the entire Sparking Zero modding ecosystem. Skip these and most other mods simply won't load.

UTOC Signature Bypass Patch handles the game's signature checking system, eliminating the need for .sig files entirely. Without it, the game blocks custom .pak, .utoc, and .ucas files from loading. It has racked up over 341,000 downloads, making it the single most-downloaded mod in the community by a significant margin.

SparkingZERO Mod Loader builds on top of that bypass, providing a framework that allows blueprint mods and other mod types to actually run in-game. Over 216,000 downloads confirm it's just as essential. Install both before touching anything else.

How do you improve performance on PC?

The game ships with a 60 FPS cap and some visual settings that hurt performance without adding much. Two mods fix this cleanly.

Unlock FPS (No Slowdowns) removes the framerate cap without affecting game speed. That last part matters: some FPS unlockers in other games cause physics or animation speed to scale with framerate, which breaks gameplay. This one doesn't. It has 64,000+ downloads.

Performance Enhancer goes further, letting you remove the 60 FPS cap, enable Temporal Anti-Aliasing Upscaling (TAAU) for better image quality at lower render costs, and disable Chromatic Aberration. There's also an option to turn off Bloom. At just 1KB, it's an engine config file rather than a full mod, and it has cleared 75,000 downloads.

What are the best new character slot mods?

This is where the community has done its most creative work. Rather than replacing existing characters, new-slot mods add fighters as entirely separate roster entries, preserving the base game while expanding what's available.

Goku (All Forms) consolidates every Goku transformation into a single character entry with new outfits and multiple versions. At 4.5MB and 27,000+ downloads, it's the most popular of the Goku-focused additions.

Goku Black New Slots Transformations takes the fan-favorite villain through nine forms: SSJ1 through SSJ4, SSJ4 Limit Breaker, SSJ God, SSJ Rose, UI Sign, and MUI. The breadth here is impressive, and at 21,000+ downloads it's clearly resonating.

Bardock SSJ through Limit Breaker gives Bardock his full Super Saiyan progression up to SSJ4 Limit Breaker, forms that don't exist in the base game. 24,000+ downloads.

Vegeta GT adds four new slots covering Vegeta's GT appearances: Base, SSJ1, SSJ2, and SSJ4. Smaller in scope but well-executed at 11,000+ downloads.

Gohan SSJ3 and SSJ4 adds two non-canon transformations for Gohan that a lot of fans have wanted to see playable. 8,800+ downloads.

Goku AF (9 New Forms) is the most experimental of the bunch, adding Goku AF Base through SSJ5 with a notable concept: temporary transformations that trigger during certain skills. The SSJ4 Goku Ultimate uses this system. 20,000+ downloads.

Android 21 Pack adds both Majin 21 and Base 21 as new roster slots rather than replacements. 15,000+ downloads.

Vegeta (End of Super) Ultra Ego brings Vegeta's Ultra Ego form from the Dragon Ball Super manga. More recent than the others at 4,400+ downloads, but the source material is specific enough to make it stand out.

Are there mods that change how stages work?

Two mods address stage limitations directly.

Let's Fight Somewhere Else 2.01 (LFSE) unlocks all maps on the Stage Selection Menu, including splitscreen. It's been updated for the SparkingZERO Mod Loader and sits at 80,000+ downloads, making it one of the most-used non-utility mods in the game.

Expanded Stage Select takes a different approach, adding 50 entirely new stage slots to choose from. At 378MB it's the largest mod on this list by far, and it's been actively maintained with updates into 2026.

Map Boundaries Remover (MBR) does exactly what it says: removes invisible walls and ceilings from every map in every mode. Fights that would normally be cut off by arena edges can now extend freely. Pairs well with LFSE.

What visual mods are worth installing?

Pinnacle of Power 2.1 (POP) gives characters the persistent aura effect that UI Goku and Full Power Jiren have in the base game, applied to additional fighters. The 2.1 update added Super Hero DLC support and fixed aura issues on several characters. Notably, it works in online gameplay. 30,000+ downloads.

Anime Golden Hair changes Super Saiyan hair to a pale yellow with pastel golden highlights, matching the anime's actual color palette rather than the game's more saturated interpretation. At 19KB it's tiny, and the 8,000 downloads reflect a niche but dedicated audience who care about color accuracy.

What about save file and economy mods?

If grinding for unlocks isn't your priority, several mods skip that entirely.

Save Game - Everything Unlocked provides a 100% complete save updated for the latest DLCs, with all characters unlocked and every shop item purchased. It's the most downloaded save mod at 124,000+.

All Items in Shop for 1 Zeni keeps your existing save but makes shop purchases essentially free. Useful if you want to maintain your own progress while removing the currency grind.

Full 100 Complete Save File offers all characters unlocked with most proficiency maxed and all story missions completed. The mod page itself recommends backing up your original save before applying it.

Are there any genuinely weird mods worth knowing about?

Two mods exist purely for chaos and have no competitive or gameplay justification. They're worth mentioning anyway.

Shrek on Toppo replaces base Toppo with Shrek. It has 8,500+ downloads. There's nothing else to say about it.

Donkey Kong as Vegeta Ape replaces Great Ape Vegeta with Donkey Kong. Also 7,600+ downloads. Both mods come from the same creator and were uploaded on launch day, which says something about modding priorities.

What audio mods exist for Sparking Zero?

Kuro's Music Manager is a framework mod that lets other mods add new song slots without overwriting existing music. It's infrastructure rather than content, but at 10,000+ downloads it's clearly being used as a base for audio work across the community.

For players who want a complete soundtrack overhaul, a Brazilian Portuguese dub OST mod replaces the game's soundtrack with the Brazilian anime soundtrack, manually looped and extended. At 533MB it's a substantial download, but 6,200+ downloads confirm there's real demand for it.

There's also a First-Person Camera mod that adds a toggleable first-person view for all characters, including modded ones. It's newer and sits at 2,200+ downloads, but the concept alone makes it worth flagging.
