Complete guide to the FC 27 Backline Conductor Evolution: requirements, all stat upgrades, and the best CBs to evolve right now.
EA Sports FC 27 dropped three new evolutions in Week 3 of Season 1, and Nine Duty is the one worth stopping everything for. It is a free Training Camp evolution for strikers, costs zero coins, and requires zero matches. You pick an eligible silver ST, start the timer, and collect a meaningfully upgraded card roughly 24 hours later. No Squad Battles grind, no win requirements. For anyone sitting on a budget ST they have been meaning to improve, this is the most accessible free upgrade in the current rotation.
Before you slot a striker in, the card has to clear four eligibility gates. Miss any one of them and the evolution will not accept the player.
| Requirement | Limit |
|---|---|
| Overall rating | Max 74 |
| Pace | Max 85 |
| PlayStyles | Max 7 |
| Position | ST only (CB, CM, CAM excluded) |
The 74 OVR ceiling puts you firmly in Silver card territory and the lower end of Gold. The 85 pace cap is the more interesting restriction: it deliberately blocks quick, wide-style strikers and pushes you toward physical hold-up forwards. That is not a coincidence. The current FUT meta rewards tall target men for aerial duels and shielding, so Nine Duty is essentially designed to make those cards viable.
Nine Duty runs across four levels, each locked behind a 6-hour training timer. The full evolution completes in roughly 24 hours from activation. You cannot use the card in matches while it is training, but each level unlocks automatically once the timer finishes. Claim it in-game or via the Companion App, and the next level begins immediately.
The total stat injection across all four levels is substantial:
| Level | Key upgrades | Training time |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | +40 OVR to 79, +50 Positioning, +50 Volleys, +40 FK Accuracy, +40 Agility, +40 Dribbling | 6 hours |
| Level 2 | +50 Finishing to 79, +50 Penalties to 81, +40 Short Pass, +40 Balance, +40 Composure | 6 hours |
| Level 3 | +2 Skill Moves to 3, +40 Acceleration, +50 Shot Power to 79, +40 Vision, +40 Long Pass, +40 Reactions | 6 hours |
| Level 4 | +40 Sprint Speed, +50 Long Shots to 78, +40 Crossing, +40 Curve, +40 Ball Control | 6 hours |
The total stat boost across the full evolution sits at +366 attributes. The standout gains are Finishing (capped at 79), Penalties (81), and Shot Power (79). The Skill Moves bump to 3 stars at Level 3 is a small but useful quality-of-life upgrade for dribbling in tight spaces.
Critically, Nine Duty adds the Rapid PlayStyle and unlocks the Advanced Forward Role++. Rapid improves how quickly a player reaches full sprint speed, which directly benefits strikers making diagonal runs in behind a defensive line. The Advanced Forward role opens up more intelligent off-ball movement patterns that lower-rated STs simply do not have access to at base.

FC 27 Guide: Best Players to Use for Nine Duty Evolution
After testing the eligible pool, five strikers stand out as the strongest candidates. The key principle: the evolution adds on top of what is already there, so cards with a stronger physical or shooting base come out of the other end in better shape.
Alemão enters the evolution with a base Physical stat of 84, which is the highest of any practical Nine Duty candidate. His Power Shot and Precision Header PlayStyles survive the upgrade intact, and they are genuinely useful for a target forward profile. After completing all four levels, his Shooting climbs to 80 and his OVR hits 79. The combination of aerial dominance, hold-up strength, and a now-respectable Shooting stat makes him the most complete Nine Duty output.
| Stat | Base | Evolved |
|---|---|---|
| OVR | 74 | 79 |
| Pace | 72 | 78 |
| Shooting | 74 | 80 |
| Passing | 63 | 75 |
| Dribbling | 71 | 78 |
| Physical | 84 | 84 |
Moussa Sylla sits at exactly 85 pace on his base card, maxing out the pace requirement right at the limit. That means he enters the evolution as the fastest eligible striker and exits it with Shooting at 79 and the Rapid PlayStyle already on the card. His Advanced Forward role ensures he is constantly threatening in behind. If your squad needs a direct runner rather than a hold-up forward, Sylla is the pick.
| Stat | Base | Evolved |
|---|---|---|
| OVR | 72 | 79 |
| Pace | 85 | 85 |
| Shooting | 71 | 79 |
| Passing | 59 | 75 |
| Dribbling | 72 | 78 |
| Physical | 67 | 67 |
Kyogo Furuhashi is the agility-focused option. His Quick Step and First Touch PlayStyles make him feel noticeably different to control in crowded penalty areas compared to the physical picks above. The evolution pushes his Dribbling to 79 and Shooting to 79, and his OVR jumps from 70 to 79, which is one of the highest base-to-evolved gaps in the eligible pool. For players who prefer a poacher that moves between defenders rather than bullying them, Kyogo is the best Nine Duty candidate available.
| Stat | Base | Evolved |
|---|---|---|
| OVR | 70 | 79 |
| Pace | 83 | 83 |
| Shooting | 69 | 79 |
| Passing | 66 | 75 |
| Dribbling | 72 | 79 |
| Physical | 64 | 64 |
Gyrano Kerk is the squad-building wildcard. His card lists RW, RM, LM, ST, and LW as eligible positions, which means he can fill almost any attacking slot in your formation after the evolution completes. He exits Nine Duty with 84 pace, 79 Shooting, and Rapid plus Quick Step PlayStyles already applied. The Gamechanger PlayStyle adds an extra layer of unpredictability in one-on-one situations. If chemistry links are your main concern and you need a forward who can slot across the front line, Kerk solves that problem.
| Stat | Base | Evolved |
|---|---|---|
| OVR | 72 | 79 |
| Pace | 84 | 84 |
| Shooting | 73 | 79 |
| Passing | 63 | 75 |
| Dribbling | 71 | 78 |
| Physical | 76 | 76 |
Felipe Silva is the pure aerial option. His Aerial Fortress and Bruiser PlayStyles mean he wins physical battles in the box that most silver STs simply cannot compete in. The evolution rounds out his profile with pace and shooting boosts, and his Dribbling climbs to 78. If your tactical setup relies on crosses and set-pieces, Silva's Target Forward role and physical PlayStyle combination make him the most consistent Nine Duty pick for that specific playstyle.
| Stat | Base | Evolved |
|---|---|---|
| OVR | 74 | 79 |
| Pace | 76 | 78 |
| Shooting | 73 | 79 |
| Passing | 60 | 75 |
| Dribbling | 68 | 78 |
| Physical | 82 | 82 |
Nine Duty is one of four free evolutions live during Week 3 of Season 1. The others are Wing Specialization (RM/RW, 2 matches, max 79 OVR with three Level 3 path options), Regista Realm (CM/CDM, 6 matches, max 80 OVR), and Goal Guardian (GK). You can run all of them simultaneously on different player slots.
The practical Week 3 approach: start Nine Duty first since it runs passively on a timer, then knock out Wing Specialization's two matches, then work through Regista Realm's six games across Rivals or Squad Battles over the week. By the time you finish the match-based evolutions, your Nine Duty striker will already be fully evolved and waiting in your club.
For Wing Specialization specifically, the Level 3 path choice between a Sprint Winger build and a Creative passing build is worth thinking through before you commit. Our guide on the best players for Wing Specialization Evolution covers all three paths and the top eligible picks in detail. Similarly, if you are running a CDM-heavy formation, the Regista Realm EVO guide breaks down the best CM and CDM candidates for that upgrade.
Nine Duty is designed as an entry-level ST evolution, and the evolution preview screen in-game will show you which subsequent upgrades remain available for your specific card after it completes. Because the output card sits at 79 OVR, it may open paths into higher-ceiling evolutions that were previously blocked by the card's base rating. Always check the Evolution preview for your specific player before committing, since eligibility updates in real time as you stage evolution paths.
If you are building out a longer-term FUT squad and want to see which young STs are worth developing beyond Nine Duty, the EA FC 27 wonderkids Career Mode guide covers the highest-potential forwards worth investing in across both modes.
For everything else in the game, the full EA Sports FC 27 strategy guides collection has you covered across every position and evolution currently live in Season 1.
