The Visitor has a new job for you in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2, and it involves throwing yourself into glowing rocks. Twice. The quest asks you to rift using Zero Point Shards in the same match to help The Visitor analyze the Dark Harvester Rift, but the game gives you zero directions on where to find those shards or how the rifting mechanic actually works. Here's everything you need to know to knock this out fast.
Where are the Zero Point Shards located?
There are 4 Zero Point Shards scattered across the Chapter 7 Season 2 map. You only need to use 2 of them in a single match, so pick whichever pair sits closest to your drop zone.

All four shard locations marked
Here's where to find each one:
- Squibbly Shores — just off the coast of the main town area
- Frigid Fortress — close to the Ice King's palace
- Dark Dominion — hovering directly over the center of the POI
- Builder's Barracks — slightly northwest of the landmark
All four shards appear as massive grey and pink rocks floating above the ground. They're hard to miss once you're in the area.
The low gravity field surrounding each shard means you can reach them even though they're suspended in the air. Jump toward the shard and the reduced gravity will carry you up to it.
How do you rift using Zero Point Shards?
Rifting is simpler than the quest description makes it sound. Run toward a Zero Point Shard, jump, and let your character collide with it. The moment you make contact, you'll be launched into the sky in a rift. That counts as one completion.

Quest tracker after two rifts
Repeat that process a second time at any shard location, and the quest registers as complete. The key requirement is that both rifts must happen within the same match. This quest does not track progress across multiple rounds the way most weekly challenges do, so if you rift once and then get eliminated, you start the count over next match.
Aiming at the shard while under the low gravity effect takes some adjustment. You move noticeably slower than normal, so give yourself a running start and aim slightly ahead of where the shard appears to be.
What's the fastest strategy for completing this quest?
The most efficient approach is to land at Squibbly Shores or Dark Dominion first, since both are central enough on the map to reach a second shard location without crossing the entire island. After your first rift, glide toward the nearest alternate shard and repeat.
The low gravity effect is tied to the shard's presence, not a separate item or buff. You don't need to pick anything up to benefit from it — just walk into the affected zone and your movement will shift automatically.
Other Chapter 7 Season 2 quests worth pairing with this one
Since Zero Point Shard locations overlap with several active quest objectives this season, it's worth stacking your runs. While you're near Squibbly Shores, for example, you can also work toward the Squibbly Shores Lighthouse Vault for a shot at guaranteed Rare and Epic loot.
The Foundation also has active quests tied to these same shard locations, and completing The Visitor's rift challenge puts you in the same spots needed for Foundation missions. Two birds, one match.

Jumping into a Zero Point Shard
Dropping into a low-population corner of the map like Builder's Barracks gives you the best chance of reaching two shards without getting eliminated mid-quest. Squibbly Shores and Dark Dominion draw more traffic.
