Gears of War: E-Day Review
8/10
Gears of War: E-Day earns its 8.7/10 through an emotionally effective campaign, more flexible movement, and a welcome return to the Locust as something frightening. Setting Marcus and Dom against the first invasion gives their relationship a purpose beyond nostalgia, while Kalona's collapse supplies stakes that need little explanation. Jumping, climbing, and sliding improve the familiar combat without replacing its identity. That restraint also defines the game's ceiling: E-Day refines Gears more convincingly than it advances it, and multiplayer omissions make the package less complete than it could be. Horde Siege gives you another substantial reason to return, but the campaign remains the strongest recommendation. Play it for Marcus and Dom, the horror of Emergence Day, and a sharper version of established Gears combat.
