Genshin Impact 6.6 Luna VII launches ...

What is new in Genshin Impact Version 6.6 Luna VII?

Genshin Impact Version 6.6, officially named Luna VII, went live on May 20, 2026, following the end of Version 6.5's second phase. This is one of the more character-dense patches in recent memory, bringing two new 5-star characters and one 4-star alongside fresh weapons, two artifact sets, a new weekly boss, and multiple story chapters. Here is everything you need to know to make the most of the update.

Who are the new characters in Version 6.6?

Luna VII adds three playable characters, each filling a distinct role.

Nicole (5-star, Pyro, Catalyst)

Nicole is the first playable member of the Hexenzirkel, and she is built around team-wide support. Her Elemental Skill grants an ATK bonus to all party members, including those sitting off-field, while also generating a shield. Her Elemental Burst deploys an Arcane Projection that follows the active character and fires Coordinated Attacks matching that character's elemental type. Under the Hexerei: Secret Rite effect, those Coordinated Attacks receive additional enhancements. Outside of combat, her Charged Attack summons a Seelie that guides you toward nearby treasure, which is a genuinely useful exploration tool.

Lohen (5-star, Cryo, Polearm)

Lohen is the Vice Captain of the Knights of Favonius Ranged Company and the banner's second 5-star. His damage output revolves around two separate resources called Joy and Will to Win. Entering the Masterstroke state via his Elemental Skill lets him build and spend Joy for enhanced attacks, while Will to Win accumulates passively as teammates act, amplifying his combat potential further. Pairing him with Hexenzirkel characters specifically pushes his kit harder, so Nicole and Lohen have intentional mechanical overlap.

Prune (4-star, Anemo, Catalyst)

Prune is the new 4-star and appears on both Phase 1 banners. She fights with a bell and a giant hammer, dealing multi-element damage and triggering Swirl reactions. She is a solid free-to-play friendly pickup for players who want more Anemo coverage.

What are the 6.6 banner schedules?

Phase 1 runs from May 20 to June 9, 2026. Nicole makes her debut alongside a Durin rerun, and both banners feature Prune as the shared 4-star rate-up. The Epitome Invocation weapon banner in Phase 1 includes Angelos' Heptades, Nicole's signature 5-star Catalyst.

Phase 2 runs from June 9 to June 30, 2026. Lohen debuts here alongside a Mavuika rerun. The weapon banner shifts to feature Disaster and Remorse, Lohen's signature Polearm.

What are the new weapons?

Angelos' Heptades (5-star Catalyst)

This is Nicole's best-in-slot weapon. It increases ATK by 12% and activates Pathfinder's Light for 20 seconds after the equipped character creates a shield: the active party member gains 10% DMG per 1,000 ATK the equipped character has, capped at 26%. A second passive called Guide's Contentment restores 14 Elemental Energy to the equipped character once every 14 seconds when a shield is created, and it can also trigger when opening chests outside of combat. Both effects work while Nicole is off-field.

Disaster and Remorse (5-star Polearm)

Lohen's signature weapon activates Path of Conflict for 17 seconds after using an Elemental Skill, with an 18-second cooldown. On activation, the wielder also gains Unforgivable (Normal and Charged Attack DMG +40%) and Irreparable (Elemental Skill and Burst DMG +40%), each for 3 seconds initially. Hitting opponents with Normal or Charged Attacks extends Irreparable's duration by 1 second per hit (once per 0.1 seconds), and hitting with Skills or Bursts extends Unforgivable by the same rate. Both buffs disappear when Path of Conflict expires or the character leaves the field.

What are the new artifact sets?

Celestial Gift

  • 2-piece: Energy Recharge +20%
  • 4-piece: After completing Witch's Homework, using an Elemental Skill grants Light's Guidance for 20 seconds, giving all nearby party members a 20% Elemental DMG Bonus matching the equipped character's element. This triggers even off-field. With Hexerei: Secret Rite active, Light's Guidance upgrades to Mortal Hymn, raising the bonus to 40% and covering both the equipped character's and the active character's element types.

Disenchantment in Deep Shadow

  • 2-piece: ATK +18%
  • 4-piece: Superconduct Reaction DMG +80%. Attacking opponents affected by Superconduct also raises CRIT Rate by 16%.

Both sets drop from the new Domain of Blessing called Thorny Crown of the Mountain Wind, located in Windrest Peak, Mondstadt. You can unlock it by reaching Adventure Rank 10 or completing the Archon Quest Prologue Act III.

What story content arrives in Version 6.6?

Two new Archon Quest chapters continue the Song of the Welkin Moon storyline. Act IX: As All Falls to Emptiness requires Adventure Rank 28 and completion of Act VIII. Act X: Of Myriad Paths, Flux, and Dissolution follows directly after Act IX. The narrative heads back into Sumeru, where a new enemy bearing an unsettling resemblance to Dottore has appeared. Completing the new chapter during the limited-time window rewards up to 560 Primogems plus Nicole's Ascension Materials.

Lohen also receives his own Story Quest, Lepus Miles Chapter: Act I - A Knight's Legacy, locked behind Adventure Rank 40 and completion of Song of the Welkin Moon Act IV.

The world quest chain Beyond Silver and Fine Gold lets you explore Nicole's house, the Witch's Lodge, after unlocking it through the Meeting Point: The Witch's Garden questline.

What events are running in Version 6.6?

Phantasmal Pals is the flagship event, centered on Klee and her Little Hexenzirkel crew. It features three minigames: Dodoko Bonbon Ball Pass (delivering Bonbon bombs for Klee), Lida Tanuki's Escape (obstacle course with rice ball collection), and Fantasy Theater (build up power through training plans and stage a battle show). Completing the event rewards the Super Awesome Magic Key Claymore skin, a purely cosmetic weapon appearance with no stat changes.

Kaleidoscopic Color Chase returns to the Easybreeze Holiday Resort in Natlan with a color-matching game format. Trials of the Brave Warrior is a straightforward combat challenge event. Miliastral Gifts ties into Miliastra Wonderland, rewarding Primogems for playing various Wonderland games. The returning To Temper Thyself and Journey Far event now grants additional rewards after players obtain the free constellation.

What is the new weekly boss?

The Exalted Master of the Heretical Path is the new weekly boss added in 6.6. Located in Lokapala Jungle, this enemy distorts natural forces to suppress challengers, summons barriers to bind opponents, and can teleport across the arena while deploying tactics that prevent players from approaching directly. The strategy involves finding and destroying the barrier's nodes to break the prison realm it creates. This boss drops materials needed for character ascension, so expect to farm it regularly.

What else changed in Version 6.6?

Miliastra Wonderland received a significant quality-of-life pass. The weekly EXP mission now distributes Geodes of Replication in five increments of 160 each (at 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 4,000, and 5,000 EXP) rather than a single 800-geode reward at 5,000 EXP. Gifting requirements dropped to Miliastra Wonderland Level 10 or Adventure Rank 30, down from higher thresholds. Cosmetic Plans now support drag-and-drop reordering, and the Custom Avatar feature supports multiple uploaded avatars.

Manekins can now perform actions across all of Teyvat, expanding photo opportunities considerably. A new Guide Notes feature appears on the mission list screen, letting you review character backgrounds and key information mid-quest without leaving the screen. New Envisaged Echoes for Navia and Wanderer give those characters fresh trail animations. Two older artifact sets, Long Night's Oath and Finale of the Deep Galleries, are now available through the Mystic Offering system.

For players catching up on previous patches, the full 6.5 Luna VI patch rundown covers the version that immediately preceded this one, and the complete 6.5 events breakdown is worth checking if you missed any limited-time rewards.

For everything else in the current patch and beyond, the full Genshin Impact strategy guides collection has you covered.
