Patch 26.21 lands as the first post-Worlds update, and Riot came in swinging. Twenty-six champion changes, five item adjustments, a new replay download limit, and a full ARAM: Mayhem overhaul all arrive at once. The bot lane meta takes the biggest hit, with both Caitlyn and Jinx getting trimmed, while mid lane mages like Orianna, Ryze, and Azir get room to breathe. Here's everything you need to know.

What are the biggest nerfs in Patch 26.21?

The bot lane is the main target this patch. Caitlyn keeps her higher base Q damage (50–230 at max rank, up from 50–210), but her Headshot scaling takes a real hit. The passive AD scaling drops from 60–100% to 60–80%, and both the critical strike chance and bonus critical strike damage multipliers fall from 1% to 0.8% per 1%. Full-build Headshots will noticeably hurt less.

Jinx loses 20 base health (630 to 610) and her attack damage growth drops from 3.25 to 3 per level. That compounds over a long game, and it's the kind of nerf that shows up most in extended teamfights where she'd normally be shredding through everyone.

Lee Sin gets hit in two places. His W cooldown increases from 7 to 8 seconds, which reduces how often he can Safeguard to safety, and his R kick damage falls from 175/400/625 to 150/350/550, with the collision damage following the same reduction. The bonus AD ratios and kicked target health scaling on R stay intact, so high-AD builds still have teeth, but the base burst is down.

ChampionWhat changedNet effect
CaitlynHeadshot scaling reduced; Q base damage increasedWeaker late-game crits, marginally stronger laning poke
JinxBase HP -20, AD growth 3.25 → 3Softer stat line in extended fights
Lee SinW CD +1s, R base damage -25/50/75Less safety, lower burst
NidaleeCougar W damage reduced, Human E attack speed reducedLower jungle clear speed and combat power
QiyanaQ base damage -10 at each rankWeaker early trades
RammusW armor and MR scaling capped at 50% (down from 60%)Less extreme tank scaling
TristanaQ attack speed 60–120% → 40–120%Weaker early-game attack speed burst
ViktorMovement speed 335 → 330, Q shield weakenedEasier to catch, less defensive safety
YoneQ total AD ratio 110% → 105%Marginal damage reduction per Q cast

Wukong also loses some early passive armor per stack (6 to 4.5 at the lowest end), targeting his jungle presence specifically. His health regeneration goes up from 3.5 to 5.5, which helps him recover in lane without keeping his jungle clear dominance.

Which champions got buffed in Patch 26.21?

Mid lane gets the most love. Orianna sees her Q AP ratio climb from 55% to 60% and her W from 80% to 85%, making her ball more threatening in the mid-game. Ryze gets a mixed adjustment: his earliest Q Flux bonus damage drops slightly (15% to 10%), but the later ranks improve (up to 100% at max rank), and his movement speed scaling on Q increases across the board. His W AP ratio also jumps from 60% to 70%, which matters a lot in extended combos.

Azir gains 10 mana growth per level, which addresses one of his core frustrations: running dry before he can fully express his kit in longer fights.

For frontliners, Sion gets 8 extra health per level (87 to 95) and a reworked R damage amplification that now scales up to 200% over the first three seconds, replacing the previous split values. Darius gets a max-rank Q cooldown reduction from 5 to 4 seconds, which is a direct buff to his sustained damage in long trades.

Nunu & Willump receive the largest single number increase in the patch: Absolute Zero's maximum base damage jumps from 625/925/1,275 to 750/1,100/1,450. The 300% AP ratio stays the same, so this is purely a base damage buff that makes full-channel R far more punishing.

Miss Fortune gets compensatory buffs ahead of the ranged Hubris nerf. Her E base damage increases by 20 at each rank (70–190 to 90–210), and her R critical strike damage scaling improves from 130% to 145%, with the bonus crit damage multiplier rising from 0.3% to 0.45% per 1%.

Other buffed champions:

  • Taliyah: E base damage +10 at each rank, AP ratio 60% → 70%, detonation damage also up
  • Vel'Koz: Passive damage ceiling rises from 180 to 205, AP ratio 60% → 65%
  • Xin Zhao: Q bonus AD ratio 40% → 45%, E attack speed scaling improves
  • Zyra: W seed recharge speeds up at early ranks

What are the champion adjustments in Patch 26.21?

Locke gets the most complex change. His early mana efficiency and sustain are being pulled back (mana growth down from 70 to 60, W mana cost up, early grey health store reduced), but his later scaling improves. His E blink damage grows at higher ranks (40/55/70/85/100 from a flat 40/50/60/70/80) and gains a stronger AP ratio (50% up from 40%). The W current health store also gains a 60% AP ratio it didn't have before.

Varus gets a meaningful rework of his power distribution. W on-hit damage is reduced (4–40 to 4–28 at max rank), directly targeting the W-max top lane build that's been overperforming. Charged Q, on the other hand, gets stronger: maximum damage scaling increases and the charge amplification cap rises from 50% to 70%. This redirects Varus toward his intended marksman fantasy and away from the on-hit bruiser version.

Taric and Twisted Fate both receive quality-of-life fixes. Taric's Q, E, and R can now be cast through bound allies who are untargetable, which fixes a frustrating interaction that made his kit unreliable in specific situations. Twisted Fate's R now reveals untargetable units, giving him more consistent information from his ultimate.

What item changes matter most in Patch 26.21?

Ranged Hubris users take a direct hit. The base bonus AD for ranged champions drops to 10 (melee stays at 15, up from 12 for both), and the bonus AD per stack falls from 3 to 2 for ranged champions. Melee users actually come out ahead here with a higher base value.

Gluttonous Greaves costs 100 more gold (1,000 to 1,100), which is a small but real early-game tax that affects timing windows for champions who rush it.

Bastion Breaker loses 4 lethality (22 to 18) and its Shaped Charge base damage drops for both melee (50 to 40) and ranged (25 to 20) users. Its Sabotage duration changes from 90 seconds to effectively unlimited, which is a pure quality-of-life improvement.

Dawncore gets a meaningful buff: AP gained per 100% base mana regeneration increases from 10 to 15. Enchanters with strong mana regen stats will notice this.

League Classic additions in Patch 26.21

Classic adds Mordekaiser, Yorick, Hecarim, and Lucian this patch. Mordekaiser returns with his 2010–2015 kit, including the ability to curse an enemy champion with his ultimate and raise their spirit as a controllable ghost if they die while cursed. Yorick brings his original ghoul-focused kit, and Lucian arrives with 550 attack range and an older version of Relentless Pursuit.

Classic also receives balance adjustments for existing champions. Kassadin gets buffed: Q damage increases to 80/130/180/230/280, silence duration rises, and R's AP ratio climbs from 70% to 80%. Irelia loses some base health and regeneration, and her passive tenacity now stacks multiplicatively with tenacity items. Atma's Impaler gets stronger, with critical strike chance rising from 15% to 18% and the maximum health to bonus AD conversion improving from 1.5% to 2%.

Riot has confirmed Classic will rotate out in January 2027, with more champion additions planned for Patches 26.22 and 26.23.

What else changed in Patch 26.21?

Replay downloads are now limited to 10 per hour. You can still download your own matches and replays from other players, so the feature stays intact for regular use. The limit targets mass scraping tools that were downloading replays at scale.

The Mythic Shop's rotation timings are being aligned in preparation for personalized shop offerings arriving in Patch 26.22. Check the displayed timers before waiting on a purchase, since the timing windows are shifting.

The patch launcher now requires SSE 4.2, which raises the minimum AMD specification by one version. If you're on older hardware, check Riot's official system requirements.

Bug fixes worth knowing:

  • Nidalee's maximum-range spear no longer incorrectly damages targets through spell shields
  • Lee Sin's E no longer reveals enemies who go invisible after Tempest hits them
  • Titanic Hydra's cooldown timer displays correctly after use
  • Hail of Blades correctly activates on attack resets after a canceled first attack

True Damage Know My Name skins

Five skins arrived with the patch on October 21, tied to the Worlds 2026 anthem:

  • Prestige True Damage Know My Name Ekko
  • True Damage Know My Name Akali (Legendary)
  • True Damage Know My Name Qiyana
  • True Damage Know My Name Senna
  • True Damage Know My Name Yasuo

FAQ

Does the Caitlyn Q buff offset the Headshot nerf? Not at full build. The Q base damage increase helps in laning phase, but the Headshot scaling reduction is felt most in the mid-to-late game where crit chance and bonus crit damage stack up. Full-build Caitlyn loses meaningful burst.

Is Hubris still worth building on ranged champions after the nerf? It depends on the champion. The base AD drops to 10 and stacks give 2 AD instead of 3, so the gap between melee and ranged users widens significantly. Melee users actually got a buff here.

Why are Butcher's Bridge and Koeshin's Crossing unavailable in Mayhem? Riot is building out concert stages for the Journey to Stardom update. Both maps are expected to return in Patch 26.22.

Does the replay limit affect content creators? It can, if you're downloading large batches of replays for analysis or video production. Plan downloads in batches of 10 and space them out across hours to avoid interruptions.
