Capes have always been the flex of choice in Minecraft, and Minecraft Dungeons II is leaning into that hard. Mojang has confirmed 5 capes for the sequel, each tied to a different unlock method ranging from simply owning the original game to watching a livestream for 15 minutes. Some are already locked in, one is still a mystery, and at least one has a ticking clock attached to it. Here's every cape, what it looks like, and exactly what you need to do to claim it.
What are all the capes in Minecraft Dungeons 2?
There are 5 confirmed capes: the Hero Cape, Twisted Cape, Soul Cape, Corrupted Creeper Cape, and a Special Cape with no announced unlock method yet. Two of them (the Hero Cape and Twisted Cape) also transfer to Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition on the same Microsoft account, which is a nice bonus if you play vanilla Minecraft alongside the dungeon crawling.
Here's a quick overview before diving into the details:

Minecraft Dungeons 2 Guide: How to Get All 5 Capes
How do you get the Hero Cape?
The Hero Cape is the most straightforward of the bunch. If you've already put time into the original Minecraft Dungeons, you're most of the way there. Log into Minecraft Dungeons 2 using the same Microsoft account before December 31, 2026, and the cape unlocks automatically.
The design itself earns the name: deep red with gold detailing that reads more like a veteran's reward than a generic cosmetic. Once it shows as equippable in Dungeons 2, open Minecraft Java or Bedrock on the same account to claim it there as well.
How do you get the Twisted Cape?
The Twisted Cape is the pre-order reward for Minecraft Dungeons 2. Pre-order the game before its September 29, 2026 launch, log in after release, and the cape is waiting for you. The design goes in a completely different direction from the Hero Cape: a skeleton rib pattern on a dark blue background that fits the Deep Dark aesthetic of the game.
Like the Hero Cape, the Twisted Cape also unlocks in Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition once you equip it in Dungeons 2. The pre-order bundle also includes the Twisted Chicken pet and the Adventure Skin for both Steve and Alex, so it's a solid package if you were already planning to buy at launch.

How do you get the Soul Cape?
The Soul Cape is locked behind the Deluxe Edition of Minecraft Dungeons 2. Buy the Deluxe Edition, launch the game on or after September 29, and it's automatically added to your cosmetics. No codes, no watch quests.
Visually it's the most premium-looking of the confirmed capes: dark blue background with a glowing soul motif dominating the center. The Deluxe Edition also bundles in the Blub pet companion, four hero skin variants (Valorie, Kellen, Ren, and Flores in dark-gold colorways), and access to future DLCs. The Soul Cape does not transfer to vanilla Minecraft.
How do you get the Corrupted Creeper Cape?
This one has the most specific requirements and the tightest deadline. The Corrupted Creeper Cape is available through a limited-time watch quest running from September 21 to September 26, 2026.
Two ways to earn it:
- Watch any live Minecraft stream tagged with Drops Enabled on Twitch for at least 15 minutes
- Watch a Minecraft stream with Game Rewards enabled on TikTok for at least 3 minutes
Once you hit the watch-time threshold, check your Twitch inventory or TikTok notifications for the cape code. You'll redeem it inside Minecraft Dungeons 2 after the game launches on September 29.
The design is exactly what the name promises: a corrupted Creeper face printed across a dark cape. It was originally distributed as physical card codes at the Xbox Gamescom event, then briefly through a Gleam campaign that gave out codes to the first 1 million players before being taken down. The Twitch and TikTok watch quest is the current and most accessible way to get it.
What is the Special Cape and how do you get it?
The Special Cape is the only one without a confirmed unlock method. Mojang has revealed its existence and shown the design (deep blue background with gold yellow and light blue borders, consistent with the Deep Dark aesthetic running through most of the Dungeons 2 cosmetics), but the acquisition details haven't been announced yet.
Mojang may reveal the unlock method around Minecraft Live in September 2026. Until then, watching official Minecraft channels is the safest way to catch the announcement when it drops.
Capes in Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition
Two of the five capes cross over into vanilla Minecraft. The Hero Cape and Twisted Cape both unlock in Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition once you claim them in Dungeons 2, as long as you're using the same Microsoft account across all games.
Mojang is also making two hero skin packs available through the Minecraft Marketplace: one featuring heroes from the original Minecraft Dungeons, and a new one with Dungeons 2 heroes Valorie, Kellen, Flores, and Ren. These are separate from the capes but worth knowing about if you want to carry the Dungeons 2 aesthetic into your regular Minecraft sessions.

Which cape should you prioritize?
If you're only going to act on one thing right now, it's the Corrupted Creeper Cape. The watch quest window closes September 26, 2026, and it only takes 15 minutes on Twitch or 3 minutes on TikTok. That's the lowest effort-to-reward ratio of any cape on this list.
The Hero Cape rewards players who already own Minecraft Dungeons, so if that's you, just make sure you log into Dungeons 2 on the same Microsoft account before the December 31, 2026 deadline. The Twisted Cape is tied to the pre-order, so that decision is already made if you've bought in.
The Soul Cape is the premium option. It doesn't transfer to vanilla Minecraft, but the Deluxe Edition bundle around it (Blub pet, hero skins, future DLCs) makes it more than just a cosmetic purchase.
