Mouse: P.I. For Hire Guide: All Newspaper Locations

The Mouseburg Herald newspapers are easy to walk right past. They sit in lockers, on toilet-bound skeletons, and tucked behind bars you'd only enter if you already knew something was there. Miss enough of them and you're looking at a shop bill you probably can't afford, or a locked achievement you'll never clear. There are 38 total spread across every mission, and this guide covers every single one.

What are the Mouseburg Herald newspapers and why collect them?

Each Mouseburg Herald edition is a physical newspaper collectible sitting somewhere in the world of Mouse: P.I. For Hire. They're not just padding — every one features a unique headline and a short story from Mouseburg, adding texture to the setting. Collecting them all unlocks an achievement, and that's the main reason to hunt them down systematically.

The game spreads 2 to 4 newspapers per mission. Most are off the main path, tucked into rooms you'd skip if you're just pushing through the story. If you do miss one, a Paper Boy near your P.I. Office sells select editions, but coins are scarce and better spent elsewhere. Treat the shop as a last resort, not a plan.

All newspaper locations by mission

The Vanishing Act

Two newspapers appear in this opening mission.

  • No. 32186 "Small-Time Actress Found Dead" — After showing the cop Wanda's ID, enter the greenroom and check the locker on the right.
  • No. 32138 "In The Wake Of A New Fad: Race To The Left" — Once you finish talking to severed Betty, grab the newspaper sitting on her kitchen counter.

Gumshoe In The Opera

  • No. 27611 "Dark Clouds Over Shrewthicket" — Sitting on a table right as you enter the Opera building. Hard to miss.
  • No. 27611 "Mossman, or Mossdream?" — After the Old Rat Stuntman teaches you the Double Jump, check the chair beside him before moving on.

Bandel's Laboratory

Three newspapers here, and one is very easy to walk past.

  • No. 27752 "Smoke, Mirrors, and A Lot Of Fun" — After clearing the goons in the room with the giant octopus tank, head upstairs. The newspaper is in the same room where you pick up the Devarnisher.
  • No. 27208 "The Future Is Now" — After defeating "Betty," find this one on a desk near where Igorrr is hanging.
  • No. 27614 "Dirty Money, Dirtier Tricks" — Near the end of the mission, you'll reach a room with a typewriter and the letter "Building Betty - Day 88." Before proceeding, check the corner for a trash can with a newspaper inside.

A Bit Of A Scene

  • No. 28196 "The End Of The Crime Families" — After the shootout on both sides of the train track, go down the stairs and look right for trash cans next to a fence. Jump on them, hop the wall, and the newspaper is on the ground.
  • No. 26087 "Worker Strikes In Effect" — After using the trampoline to reach an apartment balcony, climb through the window and immediately turn left. The newspaper is in the kitchen.

Cheeseball Sub

This mission has three newspapers, including two hidden behind flashlight sections.

  • No. 26002 "Boy Eats Bad Book" — After clearing goons near the subway tracks, pick the lock on a door to the right of the tracks. Head upstairs into the flashlight section and continue to the office at the far end. The newspaper is on the desk. (Bonus: Jack Pepper starts a "Potion Seller" reference when you walk in.)
  • No. 28593 "The Burdens Of Blue Betty" — In the room with the giant construction hole in the center, go to the far left (South East) corner and jump the crates to reach unused tracks. A small lit area up there holds ammo, cash, and the newspaper.
  • No. 25389 "Read the Leaflets, Mouseburgers" — After a large room full of enemies and a typewriter save, you'll enter a flashlight corridor series. In the second room, turn left and look for the newspaper on a stack of crates.

"Once Upon A Time..." By Tinsel Bros.

  • No. 27790 "Mouseburg's Puddle Scandal" — Clear the street at the mission start, then pick the lock into the bar. Kill the goons inside and go behind the bar counter for ammo and the newspaper.
  • No. 28800 "The Haunting of the Wensleydale Wraith" — After speaking with Gabe and the outdoor shootout (where you can drop a piano on enemies), head inside to a room with bathrooms on the left. Enter the first bathroom and check the end stall — the newspaper is in the lap of a skeleton on the toilet. Note: the paper itself has a printing error and reads No. 27790, but the correct edition number is No. 28800.

Saltwater Cambozo

Three newspapers, one of which is right at the mission start.

  • No. 27774 "The Magnificent Cheesehead?" — Walk forward from the mission start and look for a large hanging fish. The newspaper is on one of the nearby picnic tables. While you're here, kick the big fish for a separate easily-missed achievement.
  • No. 26786 "Yet Another Mousessful Bust" — After destroying the 3-story building and the mini-boss, follow the story path to an exploding wall that reveals a grappling hook. Use it to reach a fenced platform, open the locked gate, and grab the newspaper from a wooden crate immediately to the left.
  • No. 32212 "Ruckus, or Ruse: The Clergyrow Snatchings" — Once you reach the underground basement with the cell door and your final clue (triggering the "Investigate The Pharmacy" objective), look around the room before going through the breakable wall and vent. The newspaper is on a table in the corner.

P.I. Office

  • No. 28646 "Time For A New Party" — This one cannot be found in the field. Purchase it from the Paper Boy for 15 Coins.

Damp Evidence

The final mission has two newspapers.

  • No. 65488 "Mossman Lives" — Starting in the Far Wetlands house, head through the hallway and go right up the stairs. The bedroom on the right has a newspaper beside the bed.
  • No. 30355 "Paradise Moist" — After defeating the cultist boss, exit the mansion onto the porch. Clear the enemies, then go around the left side of the porch to find the newspaper on a bench.

How do you get the newspaper achievement?

Collect all 38 Mouseburg Herald editions. The simplest approach is to follow each mission section of this guide in order, grabbing every newspaper as you go. The shop near the P.I. Office covers any you miss from earlier missions, but it costs coins you may need for other things. The two newspapers in Damp Evidence are the only ones with no safety net, so prioritize those above everything else.
