The best gun in WARDOGS right now is the .50 cal , if you can get someone to drop it for you. For a loadout you carry yourself, the pick after around 150 hours in (most of them solo) is a full-auto GGX 18 pistol and a Large Hammer.

A pistol and a hammer with no rifle sounds odd for a best guns piece. But each part is there for a reason, and those reasons are worth more to a new player than the name of any single gun.

Why the GGX 18 Works

The GGX 18 is a fully automatic 9mm pistol. According to WARDOGS Hub's weapon data, it fires around 1,200 rounds per minute at 22 damage per round, with an effective range of about 50 metres. That rate of fire is the whole point: at close range it puts a lot of rounds into a target very quickly.

The recommended setup is the 33-round magazine and a red dot sight. The magazine is the key attachment , that's 33 rounds in the gun and another 33 in the bag, giving 66 shots before needing anything else, with only one stack of loose ammo on top of that.

It isn't a starter gun, though. WARDOGS Hub lists it unlocking at Wardog level 70 for a $50,000 unlock fee. On the vendor screen the pistol costs $1,720 and the 33-round magazine $118, so treat it as something to work towards rather than a day-one purchase.

Why There's a Hammer in a Best Guns List

The Large Hammer isn't really a weapon , it builds things. Per WardogsBuild's Support guide, it unlocks at Support level 8, builds faster than the other hammers, and is the only hammer that can build the drill and the heavy weapons: the big defences a team needs when helicopters show up.

It started as a Support grind tool and stayed in the loadout. No attachments available for it, unfortunately.

The Full Loadout Breakdown

Loading table...

The full loadout comes to $17,456 on the vendor screen, weighing 26 kilos, which the game rates as medium weight. The shape of it: a pistol for the fights in front of you, the hammer for building, and enough healing and revives to stay in the match. No long gun at all.

How This Loadout Evolved

Before the current setup came a shotgun and RPG anti-air launcher, with the hammer in the bag, while still grinding Support. The shotgun covered close fights and the launcher handled helicopters while levelling the class that builds the bigger answer to them.

Before that: a pistol and a range finder, playing Recon , spotting targets for the team rather than shooting them.

My old Recon loadout from when I was spotting: a pistol and a range finder.

Each loadout followed whatever class was being levelled at the time. That's worth knowing if you're wondering why players' kits look so different from each other.

What's the Best Gun for New Players?

Not the snipers. The basic sniper and the basic marksman rifle are the weakest starting options in the game. Pick anything else until you've unlocked something better.

This matters because starter long guns are often the first thing new players reach for , and they're the weakest way to learn the game. Choose another starting option and come back to long guns once the better ones are unlocked.

Are Any Guns Overrated?

Not really , if anything, it's the helicopters (the birds in general) that are overrated as a threat. Players are getting wise to them. The counter is to support whoever on your team is building the anti-air. Once it's up, helicopters are quite easy to deal with.

The hard part is getting your team to protect the builder while they put up the structure that will save all of them. That builder is usually the person carrying a Large Hammer.
