WARDOGS throws you into firefights where every death costs you your loadout, so picking the wrong weapon does not just lose a round. It drains your budget over a full session. After running weapons through firing-range tests and live matches, this tier list ranks every gun in WARDOGS by how much real value each one delivers once recoil, range, armor penetration, and price all factor in.
The game launched into Steam Early Access on September 10, 2026, which means these rankings reflect the current state of the meta. Rankings will shift as BULKHEAD patches things, so treat this as a working reference rather than a permanent verdict. For exact launch timing details, the WARDOGS Early Access release date guide has everything you need.
WARDOGS weapon tier list
Weapon cost carries real weight here. When two guns perform almost identically, the cheaper option often wins because you can sustain more deaths without going broke. Keep that in mind as you read through each tier.
S tier weapons

FAL
The FAL is the strongest all-around rifle in the current build. It hits harder than most assault rifles while still offering full-auto fire, and recoil stays manageable enough at medium range that you can actually land follow-up shots without fighting the gun. After testing it head-to-head against the T-21, the FAL came out ahead on damage and range with only a modest increase in difficulty to control.
The catch is the price. Players who run expensive kits and keep dying will burn through money fast. If your win rate in early rounds is shaky, consider starting with something cheaper and switching to the FAL once you have a comfortable budget cushion.
PKM
The PKM earns S tier specifically because of how well it performs from a supported position. Recoil that feels rough when you are moving around becomes much easier to manage once you deploy a bipod, and from that position it absolutely punishes anyone who tries to push through a chokepoint.
Expect it to feel clunky when you are constantly relocating. LMGs are not made for aggressive flanking, and the PKM is no exception. Play it defensively and it rewards you.
BMR-308
The BMR-308 trades the FAL's full-auto capability for tighter accuracy on semi-auto fire. That sounds like a downside until fights start happening past medium range, where controlled shots matter far more than burst fire. If you prefer deliberate, accurate shooting over holding the trigger, the BMR-308 is the better fit.
A tier weapons

T-21
The T-21 is the easiest weapon to recommend to anyone not yet comfortable spending FAL money every life. It is controllable, effective at close and medium range, and forgiving enough that you do not need perfect fundamentals to get value from it. Think of it as the bridge weapon: use the T-21 until your budget and confidence both support running the FAL.
M4
The M4 sits comfortably alongside the T-21 as a reliable mid-tier assault rifle. It handles predictably and covers the ranges where most infantry fights actually happen.
Super-45
The Super-45 is the SMG that makes sense in WARDOGS. Its fire rate punishes enemies inside buildings and around tight objectives faster than most rifles can respond. The limitation is real though: push a fight to longer distances and the Super-45 starts bleeding effectiveness quickly. SMGs in WARDOGS have a hard ceiling on range, and the Super-45 hits that ceiling like the rest of them.
Compound Bow
The Compound Bow looks like a joke pick until you actually test it against armored targets. It deals serious damage, and the ability to retrieve arrows means you are not burning through ammo the way you would with a rifle. Accurate players can extract real value here.
The ricochet mechanic takes practice to use reliably, and the overall skill floor is higher than any standard rifle. Go in expecting a learning curve.
MGL-40, MAAWS, and 9K333 Verba
These three launchers serve different roles rather than competing directly. The MGL-40 fires explosive rounds faster than any standard launcher, making it useful for area denial and rapid follow-up shots. The MAAWS felt more accurate and generally more useful against infantry than the RPG-7 in direct comparisons. The 9K333 Verba is the dedicated lock-on anti-air option, and that role alone earns its A tier placement even with limited ammunition.
None of these replace a primary rifle in a standard loadout, but each one has a specific job it does better than anything else.
M249 SAW and AMR 50
The M249 SAW fills the LMG slot for players who want suppression capability without committing to the PKM. The AMR 50 covers long-range anti-material work. Both are solid without being exceptional.
B tier weapons

SKS
The SKS is the budget marksman rifle that actually holds up. It fires quickly for its class and stays accurate at range, with the main drawbacks being limited magazine capacity and a slower reload. Compared to the SVD, which costs significantly more, the SKS covers a similar role for much less money. For players getting into marksman rifles for the first time, this is the safer starting point.
MK22 and SV98
Both sniper rifles are viable. The MK22 edges ahead on accuracy and handling in direct testing, but the gap between them is small enough that playstyle preference can tip the decision either way.
GGX 18
The GGX 18 is the full-auto machine pistol and the best secondary in B tier. Its fire rate makes it genuinely dangerous in close quarters, which is exactly what you want from a sidearm. Recoil gets messy if you try to stretch it past its effective range, but as a backup for finishing fights or covering a reload, it earns its spot.
Deagle
The Deagle rewards accuracy and punishes missed shots in equal measure. Heavy recoil means it works best as a precision sidearm for finishing enemies rather than a weapon you spray with. If you can hit your shots, it is a strong secondary. If you cannot, it will frustrate you.
AK74, A-91, Bushmaster M17S, KH-2002, Galil, M500, MP5
This group fills out B tier with serviceable rifles, a shotgun, and an SMG. None of them do anything badly enough to drop below B, and none of them do anything well enough to push into A. They are the weapons you run when your preferred picks are unavailable or the budget is tight.
C tier

AMP-9
The AMP-9 is manageable at close range but loses control as distance increases. There are better SMG options available, and the Super-45 specifically outperforms it in the role where SMGs are supposed to shine.
SVD
The SVD is not a bad weapon. The problem is value. The SKS already covers marksman rifle duty for considerably less money, and the SVD did not show enough of a performance gap in testing to justify the price difference. That said, other tier lists rate the SVD higher, so if raw performance matters more to you than cost efficiency, your mileage may vary.
RPG-7
The RPG-7 works against vehicles and structures but the MAAWS and MGL-40 both outperformed it in practical testing. It is not useless, but you have better launcher options.
PP-19 Vityaz, Mosin Nagant, MP43, Judge
These fill out C tier as weapons that work in narrow circumstances but rarely justify the loadout slot over their tier-higher alternatives.
D tier

WARDOGS Weapon Tier List: Best Guns Ranked for Early Access
Scout Rifle TD
The Scout Rifle TD punishes missed shots harder than almost anything else in the game. Its slow firing cycle means one bad shot can cost you the fight entirely, and there are better long-range options at similar price points.
GGX 17 and M1911
Both pistols function as emergency sidearms when nothing else is available. The GGX 17 and M1911 cannot compete with the GGX 18 or Deagle as deliberate secondary choices, and they are not worth spending extra on a loadout to include.
What is the best weapon in WARDOGS?
The FAL is the best weapon for players who can afford to run it consistently. Strong damage, useful range, and automatic fire without excessive recoil difficulty makes it the closest thing to a complete package in the current build.
If budget is the constraint, the T-21 is the answer. It covers most infantry situations without the financial pressure that comes with losing an FAL kit.
For position-holding, the PKM with a bipod is the best option available. For close-quarters aggression, the Super-45 gets results faster than anything else in its price range.
The broader point is that no single weapon dominates every situation. SMGs own close range and fall apart at distance. Heavier rifles and marksman weapons flip that equation. Building a loadout around the fight you expect to have, rather than chasing the highest tier number, will serve you better than defaulting to the FAL every round.
